Relocating to San Antonio

Hi everyone,

I am going to be relocating to the San Antonio area and have found there are a few different hospital systems there. I know there was a thread about this topic but it looks like it is over 5 years old and so I'm looking for more up to date feedback.

I am hoping to apply to a L&D or MB unit. I have experience in working in a women's clinic but beyond that I am limited with experience in that specialty and I'm open to applying into a residency program if needed.

Can anyone provide feedback on how the hospital systems compare, the difference in pay from the hospitals, and any useful tips about the city/hospitals?

Thank you!

All responses are appreciated!

I don't know much about the pay. My sister lives in SA and is always trying to get me to move there. They have a new children's hospital that is supposed to be offering bonuses for experienced nurses (children's hospital of san antonio) For women's services check out one of the birthing pavillions. My sister had her baby at Christus Santa Rosa and loved it there. They are a big company but have a good reputation. The pay will probably be on point with the national average. I think they start new grads out at around $25. The cost of living is dirt cheap though so even if you take a little pay cut you'll probably be living better. Hope that helps

That does! Thank you so much for your comment! :)

I'm not a nurse yet, but I volunteer with University Health System. All the nurses I volunteer with love working there, and it's where I hope to work, too.

The last time I checked, Methodist was offering relocation packages and I've heard good things about working there, too.

You could also try SAMMC - it's a military hospital that has amazing benefits.

Also curious about this! I went to nursing school in San Antonio - graduated 8 years ago. Moved to MN right after and have been practicing here. But we're wanting to move back closer to family soon and talking about San Antonio.
