For those who own or operate home health agencies, I have a question. If you have a patient that requests your agency can you contact thier Doctor to obtain orders or does the referral have to come from a Physcian?

You may contact the physician and obtain orders.

You may also suggest the patient contact the doctor and ask him to call you. Or tell his nurse that you will be calling for orders per their request to have your agancy.

Either way is ok.

Thank You, that helps a lot. Is there anywhere that I can go to find the forms I need to become certified by Medicare as a home health agency. I am in the process of becoming licensed by the state which I ofcourse have to obtain first, but I am having a hard time finding exactly what the requirements are for medicare.
