referral inquiry

Published

I am a geriatric RN who has been on the island of Oahu, Hawaii since last year. My 20 year old daughter just moved back in with our family and she is needing mental health treatment (specifically for bipolar/personality disorder)...I am sooo new to the islands that I have no idea which provider to take her to. We have Tricare reserve select insurance that gives me a big list but I can't find a place online that gives reviews of doctors.

Can anyone either direct me to a site that providers reviews (I tried yelp.com) or can anyone make a recommendation?

Any assistance would be helpful....

thank you.

HI!

Welcome to AN!

I am sorry your daughter ois having difficulties.......but as per the Terms of Service we cannot give medical advice nor do we give referrals

Medical Advice:

ALLNURSES.COM, INC or it's members do not offer medical advice. Any requests for such will be taken down. If you have a medical problem, please seek attention from your health care provider. You are not allowed to ask for medical advice related to a health situation that affects you, a family member, or someone you know

Google the MD's themselves they usually turn up with reviews

The best way to find a mental health provider for your daughter is to call Tricare and ask for a list of providers in your area. Though keep in mind that since you're Tricare, depending on your daughter's condition, they may prefer to have your daughter seek treatment through one of their military treatment centers...so you may not end up with much of a selection anyway.

As far as reviews go...again, we can't give referrals or endorsements. Though I would ask around either from friends or your medical provider. Word of mouth is far more accurate than reviews posted on Yelp or online: on these sites, it's far more common for people to want to vent--and exaggerate--about bad experiences than to praise the good ones.

Best of luck to you and your daughter.
