References being checked

Hi all!

I interviewed a week ago with this community health center about 45 miles from where I live in the Peds speciality. I was referred by a good colleague of mine who works in the same speciality. She called me this past Monday to tell me that I was hired for the position and about two days after that my former director of nursing called me to say congrats because she gave me an excellent reference and I should be getting the job! I'm so excited yet anxious since I haven't received any offer as of yet. It is a very big company and I hear it takes HR a while to prepare the ARNP benefits package. I was told about benefits, salary, HRSA student loan repayment, and who I would be rounding with while I was interviewed. Does that mean something good?! I have waited for this opportunity for one whole year! The suspense is killing me. Any community health NPs what was your experience with the hiring process? Does it take awhile to hear back from community health centers?

Hope you are interviewing now! The earlier you start the quicker you can make the transition happen. Remember that it may take 1-2 months once you accept an offer to get all your paperwork done, at least in this state.

I live in south Florida and unfortunately it took me one year to find a job and then it's like once September hit and the ACA started creeping up, I started getting overwhelming calls to interview! I was referred to this particular position because of a good colleague I used to teach with. She works there also. It's a HRSA funded facility with huge need and the pay is not that great but the benefits are awesome! I do work full time but I'm in education. I mostly ask questions of other NPs and MDs about cases so I don't go dumb since I haven't had hands on since I graduated last year. I will be oriented well according to my colleague and she says its a great place to start. I will be in the pediatrics primary care program.

I haven't been interviewing as yet. It sucks for me cause im in South Florida as well :(. I am considering moving to Orlando... There might be a better job market there.

I think it may be but for me it was extremely hard. Good luck!
