Red Cross

So I think that tommorrow I am going to sign up for the Red Cross' CNA program. It is full time and takes three weeks classroom and 1 week clinical. It is $875 plus $35 Admin which I thought was reasonable. Any thoughts on the price or the quality??

Noooooooo..... Don't do it!

Sorry thats a bit dramatic but $875 is extremely expensive for a CNA class as many nursing homes and hospital offer the class for free or some community colleges will charge anywhere from 150 - $500 but $875 is way too much. I would try to look around in your area for a good program that isn't too expensive (or hopefully free) before I would go sign up for an $875 course. But that's just my opinion.

Please look for a free class offered by a local LTC facility. Call around and network and even the sunday classifieds list them. Mine was free and paid for my exam! You can also check your state website.

I was offered a CNA position that would pay for me to take the class after 6 weeks of employment, if I gave them a 1 or 2 year commitment. This was a LTC facility as part of a hospital.

If you do something like that, the commitment wouldn't really matter because you can move up throughout the facility.
