Recruiter or no recruiter?

If you have been approached by a recruiter who is working for a hospital and being paid by the hospital that is great. I was recruited by one for my previous job at no cost to me, and it went well. I was hired and still work at the same hospital only in a different job. Most management jobs here are filled by recruiters. I don't know what it would cost you to hire one to find a job for you. My recruiter was great and even helped me buy appliances because he knew where to find them as I was new to the area. He checked in on me occasionally, so it can be a good thing. :yeah:

there is nothing wrong with recruiters, but they are essentially sales people. they will say what they need to to get you to come to them, if they want you. that being said, where i used to live, every hospital had recruiters, it was no big deal. you can't always believe everything they say, in terms of promises. if you accept a job, make sure you get the promises in writing. nothing wrong with talking to them. but don't be afraid of them.

Our recruiters get the same referral bonus we get for finding nurses. We are understaffed due to our previous management and still have not caught up. Don't pay one yourself, many are preying on the idea that the nursing jobs are gone.

Are you a new grad, are you looking?? Or did you just get a ramdom e-mail.

Should you work with a recruiter? Yes

Should you make sure YOU evaluate the job for what it's worth and make a decision based on what's best for YOU? Yes again

Now, some have mentioned about paying a recruiter. I have owned a recruiting business on the side for over 2 years. I work independently and don't work for any one hospital or company. That said, you should never pay a recruiter (at least us third party recruiters anyway). Traditionally the client, or the company who needs the employee, pays us. Some say we're "sales people" but I like to consider myself a relationship builder and a person who brings forth opportunities to candidates for mutual benefits between my candidates and my client. Bottomline advice? Work with an ethical recruiter and trust your gut. Some recruiters are truly "headhunters" and just want to close the deal no matter what. I don't work that way and I have a lot of business partners who don't work that way either. At the end of the day, use the interview as your chance to evaluate the employer for yourself, independent of what any recruiter has to say about THEIR client.
