Reciprocity Question

You do not have a license in CA, none has been issued and none will be issued without a SSN#. You have three years to provide them with that SSN#, or they will destoy your file as was mentioned in that letter. If the three years go by and no SSN#, then you will not have a license in CA without endorsing to them later on.

The NCLEX exam has reciprocity, but licenses do not. You will have to go thru the requirements for licensure in NY, which means having the CVS completed and that takes about 8 months on average to get done, and you will then need to submit the License by Examination form, page 1 only, to the licensing board there. You cannot use the endorsement process since you do not hold a license in the US.

Please also be aware of the fact that we have not seen any hospitals petition from NY in quite sometime, and it will be even longer now because of the retrogression. Your best bet would be to go and get two years of experience in another country to increase your chances of being able to get a green card in the future. Things have changed, and passing the NCLEX exam and even finding an employer no longer guarantee that one can get a green card and be able to work in the US.
