Recent thoughts of MSN

Hi there. I've just started toying with the thoughts of going back to school after 5 years hospital nursing (4years ICU) for MSN. I'm not sure if I want NP or Nurse/Patient Educator. MSN would be the right next step from BSN, correct? I live in the north Boulder/Denver Colorado area. Any thoughts on good colleges to look into in this area? Anyone with experience with University of Pheonix online? Are all the classes online with maybe local, self found clinical? Thanks for your help.

Hello, Emma,

I am so very sorry for the lateness of this reply.

In almost all states, an MSN is required to be NP. I think your experience in the ICU is a perfect background to prepare you for the NP role.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with CO and the nursing programs. And, yes, classes with UofP are online with the student securing clinicals. Now, some contracts with the program will allow the assistance with securing those clinical sites.

Good luck!!

Hi Emma,

I have been a nurse for 15 years and am now in a Masters/NP program. I am doing the Seton Hall University program and my clinicals are all in my local area and the lectures are online. There are peolple from many different states in my program. We have to physically be on campus for three weekends. PM me if you want. You can check out the website http://WWW.SHU.EDU.
