recaps

So as an LPN I have a question, are Medtechs allowed to do recaps if an RN signs off????apparentally this has been an ongoing question at work for years now,the company said no but the manager looked it up and said anyone can do recaps....listen if they can great but I dont want my friend who is a medtech to get in any trouble...

What's a recap?

They are the monthly doctor's orders in a LTCF which generate the MARs. Each month they need to be checked for accuracy, ie: any new orders, d/c'd orders, new dx, diet or allergies, etc.. The PCP is supposed to review them (after all of the above is done) and then sign off on them each month.

At the LTCF that I worked at, there was talk of the unit clerk helping to do this. Don't know if it ever happened as I left before it was actually implemented. I know that I wouldn't want to sign my name to them if I hadn't personally checked them. Maybe I'm just a little anal though!
