Reapplying to same school personal statement

If you were reapplying to a program and were interviewed the prior year but did not get in, would you acknowledge that in your personal statement? Or would you not mention it?

Featured Replies

I wouldn't mention it. They get so many applications anyways, they can't remember everybody. Besides, you want to use your personal statement to sell yourself and you need all that space to do that in your statement.

I have seen where they sometimes will actually ask the question, "Have you applied to our school before?" Of course if this is asked, you should answer "yes."

You could use it as a lead-in to telling them what you did to better prepare yourself to be successful.

I agree, use it.

Makes it look like you are really committed to that school.

Thanks, guys! I did end up mentioning it and how it helped me focus on what to improve on the year since.

Good luck
