Im new to this website, but have enjoyed reading through it very much! It's nice to know that there are many people out there who are going through the same kinda of things as me. I'm applying to a local ADN program that starts Fall '10. We have until June 1st to take the TEAS exam and turn in our app. Im planning to take the TEAS for the first time on the 26th of this month. I'm hoping that i get good results, seeing as to how i will be taking it 2 days before my b-day!
Would really suck if i failed any of it..would kinda put a damper on things. I bought the study guide from ATI about a month ago and have been studying that thing every day lol.. Im kinda sick of looking at it to be honest! I'm really worried about not having enough time to complete the math section, im kinda slow when it comes to working problems. Also the science part has me worried too! It seems like there are so many different types of sciences that you need to know, its all just a little over whelming. Im just so nervous..and will be sooooo glad when its all over!

I know what your going through !! i took it in feb and got 74.3......my school requires atleast a 74 to apply .
some pointers --make sure you know the hydrolic cycle...the rock cycle/tectonic plate theory and metric conversions!! The science is pretty random but you will for sure be asked about those things.

I don't know if it will help you or not, but here is a copy of a post I made a couple of months ago after I took the TEAS and the types of questions I encountered.
I took the TEAS today (1-7-10) and here is my take on it. Hope this helps. Apparently everyone takes a different test or so they say, so everything is based on the test I saw.
Reading
The reading section was pretty straight forward. There were short paragraphs with questions asking what the main idea of the passage was, whether or not it was informative, persuasive, argumentative, etc. Other questions were specifics that could be easily found in the passage, such as following directions.
Some of the other questions were reading charts and graphs and then answering the questions. For example there was one question that asked to identify the speed indicated by the pictured speedometer.
Mathematics
Almost all of the questions I had in the math section dealt with fractions. Adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and then simplifying them. Several questions about simple interest, one geometry question, and a few simple algebra questions for finding unknown variables, but nothing too complicated.
English
The bulk of the English was checking for correct punctuation in short paragraphs. There was some spelling, synonyms, anonyms, and some sentences where the order of information was not correct and I had to choose the correct order for the sentence to make sense.
Science
Now this was a different animal. The questions where all over the place. Anatomy, Biology, Geology, Physics, and Chemistry. The only thing I can say here is that it is more about concepts and not so much about specifics. It would be helpful to know how to convert temperatures from F to C (and vice versa), chemical bonding, wavelengths, metric conversions, force, velocity, a touch of cell theory, and where rocks come from.
With that said I only used the ATI Pre-Test Study Manual, until I took the practice test online and realized I knew nothing about Geology, my Chemistry was weak, and it has been a long time since I have taken Physics. The ATI does not cover enough science to be very useful on the science portion of the test in my opinion. I began reviewing Chem4Kids.com after taking the practice test and it helped a lot. There are also links for Physics, Bio, etc. If I would have had a little more time to review the website I think I would have done better on the science portion. I ended up with an 84.7 overall, which I am not happy about, but my advisor said it will get me in the nursing program so I am going to live with it and not re-take the test. If it wasn’t for the science I would have been in the 90’s since I scored 90+ % in all the other categories. So there is my 2 cents and like I said I hope it helps. Good Luck.

The TEAS study skills sticky at the top of this forum has many useful tips for test preparation.
Thanks so much for all the advice especially on the science portion.. Its great getting some inside info on what type of questions will be on there!

I have to agree with the others. I took the teas on 3-9-10. It was all over the place. Reading and English were straight froward, with some spelling. Math was a lot of fractions. Decimals, ratios, metric conversions. Science was something. Chemistry was a big one. rock formation, some human body( but they were the easy ones). Good luck. I studied using the book and ATI practice test. I scored way over my schools limit.
Still waiting to hear. Study and you should be fine. :)
