Re-applying for the same position

Give them a call or send them a letter, reminding them that you are still interested, and of your qualifications

A couple of weeks ago I called the HR department of one of the hospitals I applyed at and she transferred me to the nursing mangager of the floor I applyed for, but the lady never returned my call. The only interviews I have had were before I got my license and I figured that if they were intrested in me then they would have already called.

Not necessarily. Managers get busy, some candidates lose interest, sometimes individual memories of each candidate fade over time. As you've read here, people are applying at hundreds of places, meaning there are hundreds of applicants to wade through. If you want the job, you need to tell them that.

She told me she had my application but was waiting to see how many people they were going to be able to hire. I will call back next Monday so they will see that I really want the job.

I called the second hospital's HR department and told her I applied over a month ago and I was still interested in the position. That lady told me that all their available positions are posted on their website. That wasn't even what I called about, she didn't even listen to what I was saying. I called there a couple of weeks ago to do the same thing and she told me they don't give out statues on applications.

You said you interviewed before you got your license - make sure you let them know you passed your boards! I would imagine managers are reluctant to hire someone if they haven't passed yet. I had 4 interviews before I took my boards and was so discouraged after not hearing anything back. The day I found out I passed the NCLEX, I emailed the managers I had interviewed with and got a job offer that afternoon.

Also, remember that there are probably a LOT of others applying for the same positions. If you want the job, you need to be persistent and keep in touch with the managers. Most people I know are applying to like a dozen different positions before getting hired, so don't get discouraged!

When I was able to see my name and license number on the board of nursing website I reapplied to all the hospitals again. I put my license number and state on the application and I also updated my resume. Thanks for the advice, I didn't think to tell them I passed boards when I called. They probably forget or haven't even looked at my application.
