Quick Question (for Suzanne and everybody)

suzanne, i am aware that you highly suggest NY-BON for licensing as the fastest way... what do you think of the licensing process in Texas? Is it the same as CA that they don't give yet the hard license yet til they have an SSN? some colleagues of mine passed the TX licensing and in a month they have their hard license with them already but im pretty sure they do not SSN yet. Can they practice in US with that license even without the SSN?

will appreciate any information from everybody... :)

btw, sorry for not keeping in touch lately, i just received some bad news about my application but i will reveal it as soon as i clarified some things because im taking some drastic measures right now.

ill keep you posted. ciao!!!

Thy cannot practice without a social security number and a visa that permits them to work. Having a license had nothing to do with immigration.

I prefer NY because you still need to go thru the Visa Screen Process and everything gets taken care of for you................Texas still takes quite sometime for giving approval to even be able to sit for the NCLEX exam.

And this is even more important if the nurse is already in the US, but is going to need a green card. Everything is taken care of for them, when they are no longer in their home country.

thanks for the prompt reply, suzie.

you see i went to my agency last week and i told them that im gonna write for NY-BON instead of TX and they asked me why. so i told them that i heard from a very reliable source :wink2: about NYBON being the fastest. and then they told me that a colleague of mine who passed NCLEX in TX issued her a license within a month even without the SSN and they told me that TX is fast also in terms of the ATT and stuff and that i can just apply for an endorsement if i wanna work in NY, it is also an advantage since TX belongs to the compact states.

and btw, how many months will i have to wait for the ATT to arrive if i have to sit for the NY state after submitting all necessary reqts? According again to my agency :uhoh3: we have to wait at least 3 mos for it to arrive.

one more thing... this will give you an idea of what i'm going through right now and i do not know how this is resolved...

the agency just dropped the bomb on us that our application has received a notice of intention to revoke and they have given us three months to appeal. :angryfire: :crying2: my PD was june2004 and it was given to the agency dated first week of this month. what is usually the basis for this kind of notice? what are the instances that it can still be workout?

a friend told me that if it is totally revoked, i start again my application square 1 (and it just made me hyperventilate after hearing that...) please help. :crying2:

i am a really really worried and frustrated about them but right now i am trying to consult an immigrantion lawyer already and told him about my situaton (actually it wasnt just me, almost everybody on that agency got that notice too --- ohboi!!) but you're input would be highly appreciated on what you think...

thanks so much!!! have a great day ahead.

Just because you ge the ATT and pass the NCLEX and get a license, you cannot work until you have permission of immigration, as well as haivng a Visa Screen Certificate.

Next, you need to inform your agency about the compact state license works. If you get a license in Texas, you must have a legal residence in that state and maintain it to have that license valid in another state. It was initially created for nurses that lived in border cities to another state, so that they would not need to get a license in the second state. I can't see any reason that you would be paying rent for an apt in Texas, if you were going to live someplace else.

There are several agencies in the Philippines that are having the same problems. There are only three reasons for a petition to be revoked: no hospital job available, no money in the company, or problems with the specific nurse.

If they have filed an appeal to revoke, chances are that it will happen. The only way around that is to provide proof that the agency has placement for all of the nurses and this doesn't usually happen overnight. It would be very hard to place 40 nurses right away.............at a place that will be able to pay the bills, etc. :)

If it does get revokes, you start all over as if you have never done anything.

i had no idea that will be the case for compact states. ill keep this in mind and tell my friends about it coz they too do not know this. i now feel sorry for my colleagues who took their exam for TX. it's really a good thing to be a member here. glad i did not take it yet

2 out 3... it's really a long story but the problem was not on the nurses... everybody was irate, some were crying and some developed some flat affect.

Does this mean i can pull out now from them? a family friend of ours knows an immigrant lawyer who happens to be here in our country. i told him about my case and is willing to talk things over and we could get to an agreement where he can help me buy out the agreement that i signed. is that possible?

and i just remembered, if and only if we do get revoked, the agency either will sell us to other agencies and buy us out, and if nobody wants us (we can just quit wo even paying them the fees they have spent on us.)

im sooo desperate to get away from them already... too much time was already wasted and i would like to take some actions on my part now.

what do you think? thanks again for responding! take care.
