Hello,
I'm doing a care plan on phantom limb pain, as one of my interventions I want to have a tens unit placed on my pt. I've researched which member of the health care team applies them but get conflicting answers. Can anyone tell me if Rn's do this or would a physical therapist be trained to apply them or am I completely wrong lol
Thank you

In the hospital they are usually given to the patient by physical therapy and they are the ones who teach the patient about use.
Thank You I appreciate it !!! :)

i don't think you can prescribe a tens unit to a hospital patient as part of a nursing plan of care, but you can certainly recommend it to the treating physician/np.
