Quick Algebra Problem

Hi, everyone.

I'm about to take the TEAS, and I got most of the math right on my practice tests, but this one is throwing me:

(x2+4x+4)-(x2-6x+9)

Those are supposed to be x squared, by the way.

My ATI book for the TEAS V says the answer is 10x-5, but I can only get -2x-5. I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me!

You might be over thinking this.

Distribute the negative in the second half and add subtract like terms:

x^2 + 4x +4 -x^2 + 6x - 9

4x + 4 + 6x - 9

10x - 5
