Question

I was in a BSN program but will have to reapply when I finish with some medical problems (bad collision not our fault) bc had to take off more than one semester :(.

The question is is it a must to get a BSN first? I am an LPN with little more than 2 yrs experience. I have a BA already. Is a direct entry MSN a good option? Why?

I had stuff typed out and then the computer ate it.

Direct entry as in a direct entry MSN NP or direct entry RN? Both programs exist although they are rare. Competitiveness for both are high.

I would apply for a direct entry program (either RN and then do a post-grad cert or NP) but keep back up plans. I am a huge advocate for having back up plans if A doesn't fall through. I would also research local ADN, BSN, or accelerated BSN programs too. Then keep in mind other programs that are RN to MSN or traditional MSN.

Also, look at cost too. It was cheaper for me to do an RN to BSN program and then a MSN than to do a RN to MSN program. The BSN shaved about five thousand off the MSN.
