Question?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I am new to allnurses.com and am from Abb. BC. I am just finishing my last week of the LPN program. I have only 3 finals to go then I will be doing my 5 weeks of practicum in acute then 5 weeks for my preceptorship. I am nervous about being on the floor and unsure of what it will be like. I know I have the knowledge but I still feel unprepared? Any advise for me as to what to expect or how it will be? :eek:I am also interested in working in the maternity ward as a LPN. Is this possible?

Congratulations! You are almost there. I think many of us felt woefully prepared for the huge responsibilities we were about to encounter. Don't worry, if you find a good place to work they will train you and you will become comfortable and feel self assured. It just takes time and practice, imo.

I would ask around about the position. In my area there is one hospital that uses LPNs in L&D but I think they are all Grandfathered in and they don't hire new ones. Sure doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.
