question about SSN

Hi all,

I just got licensed in the state of MD and for some reason I have to move to the state of WA. As I was trying to endorse my license to WA I found they require SSN but I don't have one.

I am a little confused about how things are done. What should I do next? Simply go to SSA office to apply for a SSN, or I need to be employed before I can get one? But they can't hire me in WA before I have an active RN license, right?

My current visa statue is H4( spouse of H1). Thanks very much for answering.:)

You cannot apply for a SSN#, until you have documents that permit you to work. You will need to have a nemployer to do that.

You can find an employer that will employ you, it is stil going to take about 4 1/2 months before you would be able to work, and then you can get your license endorsed.

SSN# are onkly given out when you can legally work.;)
