Question about seizures.

Ok so lets say your pt just started to go into seizure, what do you do,do you just let him "shake" flat on the floor or you turn him on the side in the middle of the tremors, different books say something else, like one book states leave the pt alone since they are arleady in the midddle of the seizure, just make sure that their head is protected and heavy dangerous objects are removed to a safe distance but then again other sources state that the pt should be turn to the side to prevent aspiration,I'm confused...

Place the patient in the rescue position. If they are in the bed, pad the rails. If they are on the floor, protect the head without restraining the patient. Do not stick anything in the mouth. Be prepared to suction the patient if they vomit, but again, do not stick anything in the mouth during the ictal state. If the patient is vomiting, facilitate gravity drainage of the mouth, until the patient stops seizing so that you can clear it with suction after.
