Hi, I live in California, I graduated from LVN/LPN school April 15th, 2009. The board cashed my check on May 19th. I received my paperwork from the board on July 9th. The month of July was full for testing, I'll be taking boards on August 7th. I've heard it takes about a month to get results. After that, I don't know if they send you your license or if you have to send another check. It will be 5-6 months between finishing school and getting the license. I haven't been in clinicals since January 2009! I feel as if I've forgotten everything already, don't know what I'm going to do when I get a job!

Hi I live in TN and graduated May 8 with my practical nurse diploma, Took the NCLEX July 9, found out I passed on the 11th and got my license number off the TBON on July 21.
One reason it took so long before I took the NCLEX was because my school was a little slow getting the appropriate paperwork to the BON. I technically should have been able to take the NCLEX by the beginning of June.
Good Luck

Apparently the school I attended has taken its own sweet time sending in my paperwork also. Frankly it is beginning to get a bit annoying since I graduated June 17th and as of the last time I checked on the BON website I don't even have an application "pending". I have already paid the $200 registration to Pearson Vue.
At the rate this is going I will be lucky to even take my nclex test by next month. One of my classmates called the BON yesterday and they don't have a record of her application even IN the system. She was told it would be about a month after she was placed in the system before she would get a testing authorization and then 4-6 weeks after she took the test and passed before she would get her license. I am trying really hard, but my patience is starting to wane.
Have a great day everyone!
wow thats kinda ridiculous.. when your done with school you only have so much time before loan payments start.. you think they would know you wnat to take test when information is fresh and so u can start to apply.. i live in texas.. i hope it doesnt take that long. Has anyone gone to weatherford college.. and could tell me how long it took them

I will be graduating in a couple of weeks from a school in Texas. The part time class graduated the first week of July. There are some members of that class who have already signed up to take their NCLEX. By the way, check your drivers license before you go to a test center. One guy from our school showed up to take his test and was turned away because his license had expired 5 days earlier. Details count.
yea they do im sure.. hey what school do you go to? and once you submit your info let me know how your test goes and how long it takes you to see your results.. and how long it takes to get ur license.. it would be really helpful
I go to Vernon College. The full time program takes a year with new classes starting every August and January. The part time evening program takes 18 months. I think the time it takes to get all of your paperwork through depends on how good the school is about getting everything turned in. We happen to have a very efficient person taking care of all this so our wait time is pretty short.
I figure I should have the NCLEX taken by September. There are at least four test centers within an easy drive so I'll just set up a time at the one I can get into the quickest. As far as how long it takes to actually get my license, that will depend on how quick the BON is. (I may be totally screwed there)

I'm in the same boat as others. At my CC we aren't even allowed to send in our application unit two weeks after pinning. I don't know why the school takes soooo long in sending in our paperwork to the BON. My goal is to take the nclex by the end of Aug.

I graduated from LPN program 05/15/09 (a Friday), applied online w BON-MN on 05/18/09, paid the fees, got ATT on 05/21/09, scheduled NCLEX-PN for 06/24/09, found out I passed the next day via BON website, got license number friday 06/26/09 and paper license came in mail that saturday. Our school and/or BON is pretty quick with paper work, there were some students that had graduated same day and had taken and passed the boards by 05/27/09.
what school do you go to in what state?
Im in Minneapolis, MN. I went to Dakota County Techical College in Rosemount.
