Question about Scholarship

Published

Hi,

I am in 2nd semester in Nursing school (total 5 semester), I had an opportunity to turn in Scholarship application back in March 2010, however, I did NOT turn it in even though I filled out the form.

My GPA is 3.4 and I thought that was pretty low to obtain a scholarship.

However, my classmate who had about the same GPA turned it in and got $ 6,500 per year scholarship.

I didn't even know the fact that she turned it in.

She just have to work in certain county (3~4 county around in my area) in our state for about 2 years.

I so regret that I haven't turned it in.

So I asked my advisor, then she said, in our nursing school they only accept scholarship application in March then you find out whether you get it or not by October.

Is it like that to any other Nursing scholarship?

So, I am graduating May 2012, if I apply for scholarship next year which is March 2012, then I guess I will find out whether I am getting it or not in October. Does that mean I will only get scholarship for Spring semester in 2012?

For just one semester? Or is ther any other reimbursement?

I have no idea how that works....

If there is any other sources, please let me know.

All scholarships are a bit different in application deadlines and when they will apply to the winner's account. If it's a scholarship funded by your school or an organization affiliated with your school, you will be able to get definitive information from your school.

Take this is as a lesson learned. So many school-based scholarships go unawarded because people don't bother to fill out the applications! Two people in my class did the paperwork, and both of us got at least one scholarship. You have better luck getting school-based scholarships, than the scholarships awarded by national companies or online websites, due to the low number of applicants.
