Kaiser is terribly political. Most Kaiser floors have CNAs as sitters, have no LVNs, and the RN is stuck doing primary care. Kaiser also has rid itself of charge nurses; instead there are assistant nurse managers for all shifts, and all they do is nit-pick and make you redo your documentation in health connect. You have to chart in health connect the position of every patient q 2 hrs, and if you have a patient in restraints you also doc q 2 hrs. Pain assessment doc is q 4 hrs and within 30 mins after giving analgesics. Try doing this if your patient requests analgesics q 2 hrs. Most of your time is spent documenting in health connect. You must give a med within thirty minutes of when it is due or the computer will say it is overdue. Assistant nurse managers keep track of this and you will be counseled if all meds not given within 30 mins. Kaiser is a nightmare to work for. If i had to work at Kaiser again it would only be in pre-op, outpatient, endoscopy, or post-partum, but will all the extra certs Kaiser wants i'm not willing to get all of that just to go back there. Also, you have to be invited to their hiring events or job fairs now. Kaiser is very snobby and very fussy.

what do you think about Kaiser ER? and also is it true that you have to work a full year before you are eligible for 401k? Sounds like there are a lot of write ups. What do you think of sutter?
