So I am a brand new RN and I am wondering about CEU's. I know you need so many to keep your license up every year, but how many? Secondly, my first license expires in 6 months, do I need CEUs in this 6 month period or do I need to start doing that after I renew the first time? I guess I was expecting something in the mail that clarified all of this, so I would know ahead of time, but haven't gotten anything yet. Please excuse me for my ignorance, but I figured this was something I wouldn't worry too much about until I passed my boards.

You will want to check with your state board of nursing, as each state has different requirements for maintaining nursing licensure, such as continuing education requirements. One place to try looking is your state government's website, often that information will be available online.

Each state is different. I live in a state that doesn't require CEUs now but in my previous state you needed 30 per year, but that was waived during your initial licensure period before your first renewal, yet they required bioterrorism CEUs to be completed upon your first renewal.
My point being, every state is going to be different!
I'm from Michigan if that helps...
Then these links will be helpful:

Ah, thank you! I was able to find the first one but that second link was just what I wanted to know!
