I just started nursing a few weeks ago. And I am trying really hard to get used to the overwhelming information. The book says arterial insufficiency may cause skin appear thin, shiny and taut. But since arterial insufficiency cause a decrease in blood flow to peripheral blood vessels, how can the skin look shiny and taut? I thought about it but really couldn't figure out why. Anybody could help me out on that?
Remember that arteries supply oxygen! Without adequate oxygen, tissue doesn't perform at it's best. These folks will have thin, papery, cool skin and no hair.
