I'm currently taking an Informatics class, something that is completely new to me, and my instructor is asking us to write a personal response paper to the development of Consumer Health Informatics. I started writing my response when I realized I wasn't quite sure what exactly the definition of Consumer Health Informatics is. I kinda assumed that all computer health documentation was Consumer Health Informatics, since all patients can officially request all their charting and since we don't chart for ourselves, but for the health of our patients. Am I completely off base? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

AMIA - the American Medical Informatics Association has a great deal of content, topics, papers and a specific work group dedicated to the topic of consumer health informatics.
Visit their site and do a search (as I did) using the terms: "consumer health informatics"
Thanks, I will check that out!
