I'm going to MCI in Newport News VA
There pre-requisite courses are 1 semester of CHEM, 1 Semester of MATH and 1 semester of Computers.

A&P is a standard prereq for RN programs. I am not sure whether its a prereq for LPN programs though.
The reason that I ask is because I am just not seeing it in my outline of classes. I am going the RN route and I have looked over everything several times. My prereqs only consist of Algebra, Chemistry and Biology.

All nursing programs require A&P. it maynot be a prereq, but it's a required course. i'm in a lpn program where A&P is just taught in the program but its not required that we take it as a seperate class. only in a rn program it's required.
one of the nursing schools here in st. louis have A&P1 as a prereq now because most of the nursing students were struggling with nursing classes and having to take A&P all at the same time. it's just to much info. i took all my prereq's before i went into the rn program which made my scheldue much lighter.
could they possibly be calling it something else? it is not even listed in the rn program either. below is the courses. am i missing something?

It looks like BSCI 20020 Bilogical Structure and Function 5 maybe your Anatomy and Physiology course since the title of the course is biological structure and function. A&P discuss the structure of the system to the system's cell types and their functions. This is why I am suggesting BSCI 20020 is the course. Do you have access to course descriptions? If so, it would describe the course content.
Thanks for the tip! I don't have a book describing the courses, but my sister does so I will have her look it up!

are those classes that you take w hile in nursing school? Alot of schools used to do this, but found that it was too much to do the nursing classes and try to take a&p I and II and micro as well. Most require them as prereqs now. If its part of your nursing program, I'd strongly recommend taking them ahead of time, most programs will let you do that.
I just spoke with my sister and she does not have a book defining classes so she is going to try and look later because I am REALLY interested if the BSCI 20020 Bilogical Structure and Function is really A & P or not. Another thing that kind of scares me is that I have read that people find A&P hard and it is even broken down into two parts. If BSCI 20020 Bilogical Structure and Function is my A&P class does it mean that they are combining it ALL together??
dallet6, yes, those are the classes that I take while in nursing school. I have been thinking it was a lot, but then I thought it was just me. All those classes are broken down into 4 semesters, but I agree, it is a lot! Like I said the only prereqs that I have to take beforehand are Algebra, Chemistry, biology and to complete all developmental courses that are prescribed by my scores of the compass skills assessment test which I will be taking next month.
From my list of nursing classes above could anyone tell me what exactly I could possibly get out of the way before entering into the nursing program (that's if my school permit it). I am just trying to see what most students take during the actualy nursing program.
The only things we take in our nursing programs are listed as "nursing" as the first part. then its number per quarter (its a 7 quarter program for rn). Its about 10 units per quarter.
