hi there well been offered place at middlesex uni for march 15 start.

Well in info pack have received reading list of about 9 books i was wondering do they expect you to have read these books before course or are you meant to buy all these books. Considering some are as much as £50???

I started last yr, but we got a list of recommended books, I brought 1 and then brought some more as the course goes on. Remember you can borrow them from the libabry, and if you buy them at the beginining and dont need them its going to be a bit of a waist of money. Also, we got £50 towards books with our first busary.

Specializes in midwifery, ophthalmics, general practice.

my advice............ dont buy any!! they are expensive. get some out of the library first and if you think youre going to use then then go ahead but sometimes its worth waiting until the reality of the course hits home!! Its what I have always done......

Thanks for the advice i was thinking it was probably best not to buy any yet and wait till the course has begun and its going along

different teachers always have opinions about different books so ill wait and see what they say.. thanks again you two

Specializes in Cardiolgy.

Remember you'll only get the £50 extra if you are doing a diplomma. In my first semester I bought an A&P book, which was expensive butI still use, and there weren't many in the library, a research book and an a&p colouring book.

I am bad for buying books though (even non nursing ones)! Which a&p book is on your list? we were told to buy Martini, which is a really detailed book expensive and heavy, (I know some people who use it as a door stop) Apart from it being so big the other problem with it is that it is a US book,so some names and spellings need altering. (my university said they would not accept US spellings on our a&p exam).

Ross and Wilkin, is a much simpler book and it is British, and it is really easy to use, although it does lack the depth of Martini.

And this post is turing into an Amazon type review, sorry I will step off my soap box now... can you tell I love books?

If you post or PM me the details of your reading lsit, if they match any I own, I could tell you were I found them cheaper if that would help at all?
