QI vs, PI?

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and I'm thrilled to find this site. I'm hoping that someone can help me out. There are 2 jobs listed at my hospital - one has a title of "Quality Improvement Specialist" and the other is "Performance Improvement Specialist". The job descriptions for both are exactly the same. Generally speaking, is there a difference between these 2 jobs? If so, what is it? I am thinking of applying for one or both, but I'm not sure how to determine which on.

Also, on a side note, would you recommend it? I'm reading through some of the posts to get a general idea of what the job entails. I'm interested in hearing anyone's thoughts on what you enjoy about your job and what you find "challenging" (or don't like!).

Thanks in advance for all your help. I appreciate all your words of wisdom.

Qi is the old name while PI is the more correct term.

If this position is in a hospital, you maybe working on the Core Measures. You may also help design process improvement plans.

I agree with the response you recieved. You may want to contact your HR department as to why they were posted differently? They may also have a full functional statements for each position, if they differ.
