Q!!!!!! about UTHSC

Published

Im from out of state with an AA degree and was wondering if I could start my application for UTHSC while I finish a couple classes but Im confused as to how my previous transcript will reflect on my application? Does it automatically update in the system after a while and attach to my application? Im confused?

I'm assuming that you are referring to University of North Texas Health Science Center. My sister graduated with her PhD from there. As far as I know, UNTHSC doesn't have a Nursing Program. I could be wrong but I was unable to find anything on their website about a Nursing School. I would try looking in TWU (Texas Womens University) or UTA (University of Texas at Arlington) I know that both of these schools do have nursing programs... Once again, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure UNTHSC specializes in advanced degrees.. masters and PhDs (i dont think they offer an MSN either) Actually, I don't think any of the UNT campuses in Texas have a nursing school.

I just noticed you wrote UTHSC, instead of UNTHSC. Silly me! Sorry about that. In that case, I take it that you are refferring to The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, which does have a nursing school. The "Miss Texas" threw me off. Sorry! I don't really have any great advice. I'm not familiar with the specifics of their program. But when in doubt, call the school and speak to an advisor. I'm sure they would be happy to answer your questions.

Well if ur talking about the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston the answer is yes, you can start ur application while ur still taking classes as long as ur in your last 12 hour of prereqs. And the good thing about UTHSC is they only factor in prereq classes to formulate ur GPA so any class that they dont require they dont care about lol Hope this helps!!

I am also applying to UTHSC and the application is through NursingCAS which is a third party application service for nursing schools. In the application you must submit all transcripts to this website as well as manually enter all coursework you have taken in college. It's a pain in the butt and has to be exactly as it is written on your transcripts. I am also retaking a few classes this fall before the deadline in January and in the coursework section of the application there is a section for coursework that is still in progress. According to the website all transcripts must be received at some point. However if you take a look at UTHSC's website it does say prerequisites do not have to be completed by the application deadline. They only have the be completed by the time of entry into the program. I am having the dilemma of sending my application in without my final transcript for those classes or chancing it and hoping they receive it before the deadline. More than likely I will send it and hope they take into consideration that it is still in progress.

Hope this helps :)

Hmm. Well I went ahead and applied to UTHSC in Houston and recieved a course evaluation letter to which classes transferred from my previous university and then I was able to send my Lonestar transcript electronically and so far I have been able to access everything thru the UT portal. It shows my application process and what I have left to complete. Im a little confused now...
