Published

I have been placed on a capability warning policy at work. Am devastated and want to leave. My confidence has been knocked for six. I cant stop crying. Should i just resign. I know am a good nurse.

Firstly I'm so sorry your going through this, what support are you getting from your seniors and occupational health.

I would urge you not to make any rash decisions whilst your so distressed.

Your management should have talked through what thier concerns are and given you some objectives and a structured competency program to support you through the areas they have identified as a concern, do you think they are fair.

I would ask if you agree with the concerns, do you have anything that's going on which is hindering your practice.

Read your trusts capability policy, is there an option to request redeployment to another area if your finding your current position difficult.

Have your spoken to your RCN /unison representative and ask for support from them, that's what they are there for

Remember if you leave, even to work agency you will need to provide a reference and they will be obliged to say you are being dealt with under capability.

I am demoralised at the moment. Feel so low

I am demoralised at the moment. Feel so low

And that is an understandable reaction and why it's important for you to get support from the RCN or unison. Are you fit to be in work?

Does your trust have a wellbeing service, please go, the RCN also has a wellbeing counselling service which is really helpful.

Just leaving is not the answer, if your manager has raised concerns then it's important you work through them and have achievable objectives which is why you need the support.

Go to your GP and tell him or her how your feeling see what support they can post as well

Thanks for the support.

My manager is just not supportive of me. My face never fitted the area i am in. Where i work its all about favouritism. Band 5s are rarely listened to
