Providing ACLS classes

Hello all,

My name is Matt, I am a critical care RN in the United States. I work with a great RN who came over from the Philippines some time ago and we were talking about starting up an ACLS training business in the Philippines. I was wondering if the people working over in your area could give me some insight as to how successful this would be.

First and foremost if we do start this company I am only interested in providing the highest quailty training. Basically if I can't do it right I am not going to do it at all. I have been working as a BLS and ACLS instructor for a few years now in the United States at top quailty training centers and would want to bring that expierence over to the Philippines.

So, how difficult is it to find a good ACLS program in your area? Is this a need waiting to be filled in your country? Do hospitals require ACLS, or is it something that can really help you progress in your career? How about PALS? Lastly, what is an amount that would be reasonable to pay for a full two day ACLS course?

They already have ACLS programs offered there. The next issue that you need to be aware of is that the new grads do not have jobs available for them at this time, and the certificates are only good for two years.

And the facilities that are located in other countries want to see the program completed in the locale of where the nurse will be working.

Roles between nurses and doctors in the Philippines is quite diffferent than in the US, the physicians are responsible for all of the assessments for the patients, not the nurse.

there are facilities offering acls/bls classes here. if you are a certified provider by the AHA and can offer a program that is updated/accepted by the AHA so much better. fees are in the vicinity of P5000.00 for a 3 day course that includes ecg interpretation and snacks/ lunch. you can offer these courses to nurses that are about to leave for employment abroad and you can link up with several recruitment agencies here. these courses are also a requiremnt for doctors as well. the big hospitals in the country provide their nurses with acls/bls courses on a regular basis as part of their continuing education.
