Providence TIP program August 2026

The Providence Transition into Practice (TIP) program at Providence Little Company of Mary Torrance is a structured residency designed for new graduates. For the August 2026 cohort, candidates must have graduated from an accredited nursing program (ADN, BSN, or MSN) and must possess a valid California RN license prior to the start date. The program typically utilizes the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program curriculum, focusing on leadership, patient outcomes, and professional roles.

Program Structure and Requirements

• Duration: The residency spans 12 months, with the first 12 to 24 weeks consisting of intensive clinical orientation with a dedicated preceptor.
• Float Pool Specifics: Residents in the Float Pool specialty gain exposure to multiple units, including Med-Surg, Telemetry, and potentially Step-down units, requiring high adaptability and strong foundational assessment skills.
• Paid Training: This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position. Residents are paid their full hourly rate during classroom hours and clinical shifts.
• Commitment: Providence often requires a two-year employment commitment (including the residency year) for participants in the TIP program.

Key Milestones for August 2026

Success in the TIP program depends on meeting administrative deadlines. Ensure that all BLS and ACLS certifications are through the American Heart Association, as other providers may not be accepted. The NCLEX must be passed at least two to four weeks before the cohort start date to ensure the license is processed and verified by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
