Program reputation?

Published

Hi folks, congratulations to some of you for you finding the first jobs, and come through difficulties.

I will be a transfer BSN nursing student at next year.i know it is early to ask this question. ..is the rankings of the program has obvious effects to you job hunting. Simply put, are those new grads from famous program has more advantage in hunting jobs than those from common nursing school, if all of them got licenses.

I have concerns about this problem because I know job hunting is terrible nowadays.

Thanks for your any suggestions!

I've seen a hundred posts here on AN from nurses who have earned BSN's from I would consider to be very dubious programs and they're doing just fine. I graduated from an ivy league school and that program is in trouble because of the low-performing graduates it is producing. A degree in this particular program has become meaningless.

Thanks, subee! You make me feel better. Competition in nursing program is so horrible. Every candidate has a excellent status but nursing school has limited seats...

Unless you went to a school with a really poor reputation, you'll likely be fine. In the local area, different schools have different reputations, and that may make a difference in manager impressions of new grads. Otherwise, a big name school doesn't make much of a difference.
