Hello! Just finished with my BSN. Graduation is in 2 weeks. I live in Florida. I have signed up for my NCLEX, but I have no clue as to when the board of nursing will get my transcripts.... so I really do not know when my authorization to test for NCLEX will come. I have been studying a little each day. Nothing crazy, maybe like 2 hours a day. Mark klimek, Saunders, and U world ( bought it already). Should I be studying more? Studying less? Taking a break? I am too afraid to completely NOT study and go on vacay mode, but I also do not want to stress myself out. When I am not studying I do things I enjoy and work like once a week for extra cash. Any advice on NCLEX preparation? How long did you study? What did you do? What would you do? I literally want to take the test already and hate this whole waiting game. It makes me nervous as I am the type of person who likes to STAY BUSY, LOL.

Hello! So I am just about to graduate with my BSN degree. I am currently completing the last few assignments, finishing up senior practicum, and waiting for my authorization to test. I hope to take my exam before August. I however, am very conflicted. I was recently offered a part time weekend job position to start soon. I think it would be some good money and a distraction for me when I am not studying for NCLEX.. which I plan on doing during the weekdays. But I am not sure if I should commit to a job at the moment. I am young, live with helpful parents, but do like to have my own independence. In addition, I was also invited to a short weekend family vacation the week after I finish school, which I thought would be fun to go to before I dig down into NCLEX preparation. I am not sure about this either. What are your thoughts? How did you prepare for your NCLEX? Did you study 24/7 round the clock, or did you allow yourself time to breathe/work/spend time with loved ones?

I took all of those courses. I graduated with my Associates degree. And my community college also requires a year of waiting.

For reference, I am 20 years old and live with my parents. So I was accepted into a great BSN program that starts in January. It's a private university which means EXPENSIVE. This was the only nursing school to accept me because the other ones required me to have the pre-reqs (required courses for RN school) done before a certain time, which I did not. So if I wanted to apply for the other and cheaper programs, I would have to take a gap year. (most accept students once a year) I'm not sure how complicated this sounds.. but if there's questions just ask me lol. I also just started a new job as a pre-school tutor. This is a full time position that pays well, builds up my resume, and offers tuition reimbursement as well as a generous monetary award to help with college. I would receive this award ONLY if I work for a full YEAR. If I were to start school in January, I would have to quit this job and lose all the potential benefits. (the program is too rigorous for me to juggle a full time job). In all honestly, I'm pretty tempted to take a year off of school, save money, apply for a variety of cheaper nursing programs that I couldn't this year, and use that award to fund my education! **I forgot to mention that I have 4.0 GPA, lots of experience in the healthcare field, and am pretty smart (academically at least). I know I would be a great asset to any other nursing school I apply in the future. I'm not going to lie though, I really don't like the idea of taking a year off of school. I've been in college since I graduated H.S, and my goal in life is to get a Master's degree in nursing. This field is my PASSION and I don't see myself doing anything else. I want to be a nurse and eventually a nurse practitioner! However, it would be nice to work for a year and save $$$ so that I avoid the burden of student loans (private university = very expensive), save my parents money, get experience, and become more social since I am really shy. However, I'm so scared that the gap year would turn into gap years, and I will never achieve my goal of becoming a nurse practitioner in the future. I don' t know what I should do and need advice.. desperately Gap year? Or do I quit the job before I begin school??? I want to specialize in peds!

I paid the deposit as well. Did you get the email with a 6 digit PIN and package code for the background check? We're supposed to get that email after we pay the deposit but I haven't gotten it.

Thank you for letting us know, I interviewed on the 27th and really wanted to start in August as well I would still be happy if I get accepted though, even if it's for 2019.

@futureNP It is just reading comprehension, math, writing, and science (AP).

I checked my account on my Nova and under events it said: "Please note the Miami Campus is full for the Fall 2018 term. You will be interviewing to start in January 2019".

Is it true that Miami campus is already full?!

I was contacted for an interview at Miami campus! I am not sure if I should go with March 27 or April 3rd. I am nervous about what I should wear and the kaplan.. I don't want to waste $ on a book so i might just use the internet and my a&p book. I have a 4.0 GPA and am transferring from MDC.

Oh okay I did it electronically, do you know how long it takes for them to receive the transcripts?? Or how do we know if they got them? I'm a little nervous because I sent them like a week ago.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question -- but do I send my transcripts electronically or by actual mail to the main Davie campus??

Hello all, I am trying to apply for Miami campus. Which campus do I send my transcripts to?? Main fort lauderdale or Miami? I'm applying from MDC.

I live in FL. I'm currently doing my pre-reqs at Miami dade college. I have 2 semesters left and so far I have a 4.0 science GPA and 3.8 cum. I'm thinking about nursing schools and wondering which ones are the best. I know Nova is pretty expensive but I really want my BSN (eventually my Master's too ) and I also know of their baptist scholarship so Nova is definitely on my list.. for the Miami campus btw. Is this a good nursing program and is it worth it? Then there's the Miami dade college of nursing program, which only offers the ASN. (i'm only 19 and have no other degrees/medical experience so I can't go straight to their BSN program). MDC is much more affordable and so much closer to home, BUT.. I've heard several things about this program not being so great?.. It also bothers me that I'd have to go through the ASN route because that would delay me in reaching my goal of getting a Master's degree in the future. What are your thoughts? What do you know of these schools and their nursing programs? The most obvious goal that I have is that I get into a school that will help me pass the NCLEX. Is MDC a good school for nursing? or is Nova better? Is it just smarter to go to MDC for financial reasons? -- I definitely do not come from a family of money and I don't want to be in debt. I REALLY wanted to apply to FIU's nursing program too, but I won't have my pre-requisites done in time (I'd have to wait a full freaking year since admission is only once a year) so my options are only Nova and MDC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
