Yup! I got that email. I think we finish the orientation next week and we will probably get more information about the EPIC training while we are there.

That was exactly the same impression I got!! For sure. So that's why after I received the acceptance, I immediately did the finger print thing and criminal background check. I'm gonna call the BON today and check to see how long that typically takes. I can let you know.

I did mine last week. How long ago did you do yours? I'm nervous they won't come back in time. What do y'all think? How long did it take to get yalls back if you've gotten them back already?

Don't get discouraged. I have been on this journey for two years now. I have applied to 5 different schools and somehow, it never seemed to work out. I was either waitlisted, denied, or accepted but the school was too expensive and not the right fit. It all comes down to how bad you want to be a nurse. I had my moments where I wanted to give up, for sure. But I am so dead set and motivated to becoming a nurse no matter how many times I had to start over. There are other programs and more opportunities to get you there. Don't give up!

Hey ya'll! I have a question for ya. I am a little confused about how long this program is. It says its 5 terms but from my understanding from what I've been told it is two years. Based upon the term and the length of many courses (only 8 weeks), my guess is a year and a half, right? And if we've completed courses in the past (i.e. General Psychology and Lifespan Growth & Development) could we potentially finish early? Or do you just take less of a course load. On the UT Health website it says November 15th. The last admissions period they sent out decisions before the date that was posted on their website. So I would say probably around the beginning of November.

Yes. From what I understand, since those grades are part of your cumulative GPA they will factor those in even though you retook the classes.

They calculate both. Have you done the application yet? They will calculate the four pre-req classes (A&P 1 & II, Micro, and English) and then they will calculate your overall GPA for any of the classes you've take at San Jac, other colleges, or both. If you've retaken classes they will take the highest score. I retook Intro to Psych and English 1 to boost my overall GPA and they said they would take the classes that I received the highest grade in. Hope this answers your question.

So basically what the complete means is that you satisfied the necessary requirements that are needed to apply. Plus, they received all of your other documents that they require. However, just because it shows complete doesn't mean that there aren't thing you may still have to complete prior to the beginning of the school year if you get accepted. For example, it said complete in the myUTH portal last admissions period (for Fall 2017) because I had everything that they needed in order to apply. But when I got my degree evaluation it said that my Statistics class was not accepted. It ended up being an error on their part but that is basically how that works from my understanding. So I would still take Texas Government if you know you need it.

I would imagine that is what that means. Mine is still showing incomplete and I submitted my application for Spring 2018 literally the day people started receiving their acceptances for Fall 2017. I've called multiple times and they have told me that they have everything so I have to trust that they do. LOL.

I am 28. Ill be 29 in two months. LOL. Like Brandon_Hare said. A lot of people pursue nursing later on if its something they have developed a passion for or because they are unsatisfied with their current career paths. People who have applied to UT Health the last two semesters vary pretty drastically in age. You would probably fall on the younger end of that spectrum.

I can't really speak on this confidently and give you a direct answer but I feel like most schools only accept Psych Stats and Intro to Stats. All other stats classes haven't been accepted from past experience. This is just based upon previous experience so someone else may know something I do not. I hope this helps.

Wow! That's impressive. You really brought your GPA up! I try to tell people on here not to look at your stats and compare them to everyone else's. Even though its a pretty good indicator for most schools on who they eventually choose. Not with UTHSC. UT throws some curve balls for sure. And your stats are awesome. I don't know who you're comparing yourself too. LOL. People with 4.0's and high HESI scores didn't even get in last admissions period but people with 3.3's and 80's on their HESI did. Hope this helps.

I think that's also why they put deadlines on all the vaccinations, titers, CPR, etc. To weed out people from the beginning. If anyone needs CPR training I did it with a guy that came to my house. Super cool guy and it was only $55 bucks. Which to me isn't bad at all for him traveling to where you are. The drug test doesn't need to be completed by 09/01 right? I didn't see a deadline for that specifically so I am guessing you can just do that after. Either way, it doesn't seem like that would be too much of a hassle.

Fortunately, if you get everything done quickly for San Jac at least you'll have everything ready to go when other nursing schools require it. It definitely does get expensive. I've thrown away so much money applying to nursing schools, taking tests, redoing classes, etc. But when we all get in it will be beyond worth it for sure.

Awesome stats! Yeah, I started working on mine already. You literally have to have everything in by the 09/01/17 which I initially thought there would be a little wig room on that. Except the physical and the Blue Card thing. That you do later I believe. I would recommend doing it ASAP. I have everything in except MMR. I went to get my titers checked and I was immune for everything but mumps so I had to start the whole thing over again.

Hmmmm, that's what I was going to ask. But since you have never taken it before I'm not sure what that would mean exactly. As long as you have the correct UT Health School Code (FOR HOUSTON) then you should be fine. You took the five sections right? Why don't you call Prometric and ask what that means. It may just be a version of the test. I would think you would be okay though.

Oh no! This was for the fall term (2017). AND YOU GOT A 100 in A&P? DEFINITELY apply. You got this. I think you should for sure do it. I don't really know what your other stats are but based upon your HESI scores that does not count you out by any means.

NO! You should definitely reapply. There were people that got in with 85's or less last semester. As long as none of your sections were less than 80 you should be fine! Don't let that discourage you from trying.

So I had the same issue when I reapplied for the Fall semester. I contacted the help desk and they gave me my ID. Here is the link. Niknik718! I appreciate that for sure BUT I think we all have a good chance of getting in if your stats are good. 18 isn't bad at all. I think there are probably plenty of people who have gotten in with an 18 or lower. Brandon_Hare and I have been working on this "getting into nursing school" thing for a while. LOL. So we've had time to get an idea of what makes you competitive. I've retaken classes, the HESI, etc. Brandon_Hare, did you take the new TEAS test? How was it? Ugh. I don't even want to go that route again. LOL. I feel like I am done taking entrance exams for a little bit. But we have to do what we have to do to get in right?!

Whether its San Jac, UT Health, wherever. I have a good feeling for us. I was waitlisted to three schools. Eventually got into UTA but I couldn't finish chemistry in time to take Patho/Pharm by fall. Bummer. What's everyone else's stats? My stats are: HESI: 92 Cumulative: 3.2 (160+ hours) A's in all prerequisites for San Jac. Total points: 23.
