  1. Please introduce 😁😁😁😁 haha
  2. Hi Ceeceanne, That's a good question. FNP currently takes about 3 years to complete (maybe 3.5?) without nursing experience. I have also heard that many if not all schools will convert the FNP of Master's level to a Doctorate which will result in additional years schooling. There is really no right or wrong by of going about it but you may want to factor in your financial situation as well as what sacrifices you are willing to make short and long term. Good luck and keep us updated on your route of choice!
  3. Hi guys, I applied for the ABSN and ELMSN. Just an update. I received an email notification today around 5:00pm that the initial review is complete but not sure for which program.
  4. Hi guys, I wanted to know about the likely hood of a person getting hired as fresh out of college with a msn but no bsn as I am deciding which program and degree to pursue. So, I thought it was a good idea to contact some of the major hospitals in my area to get a feel of how they feel about hiring entry level msn students. For all of them I pretty much emailed the general email address provided on their site and requested some statistics, FAQs or be forwarded to the proper person/department (hoping it would reach HR or one of the manager nurses) in hopes to address my question. However, out of the dozen hospitals, most responded by saying they do not forward information to the recruiting party. This really sucks. I was really hoping I could meet with someone simply to discuss the outlook of my future. So my question to you guys is, how do I approach this situation. Is there generally a person at a facility I could reach out to and have an open conversation with or is looked down upon and I shouldn't even have emailed the hospitals. (Even though I think it is a clever idea to reach out and do some research). Thanks
  5. You make a good point but in short I highly doubt a respectable school such as USF and various other schools would offer a MSN program for none nursing BSNs if they knew students wouldn't get hired. That would be a serious damage to their credibility.
  6. Thanks for the various responses. I'll be taking your responses into consideration.
  7. FLMD you seem like a pretty cool dude. I am new to nursing actually and wanted to see if you like to connect.
  8. Hi Guys! I am planning to apply to a masters nursing program with an emphasis on leadership right now and I am wondering how I should answer the question "Why do you want to become a nurse?" I understand as a BSN RN you would generally highlight the patient care and being hands on aspect. However, the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) also addresses leadership skills with an opportunity into management (according to admissions). Therefore, should I discuss the management aspect of nursing/health field as well? And would I miss the entire purpose of the PS if I choose to only focus on the patient care/hands on etc. aspect? Please advise. Btw, the school I am writing this for is USF. It's there Masters Entry MSN CLN program. Thanks!
