  1. As far as I know, several people in the nursing field have bad anxiety or depression or other things....I have heard vets/doctors that are schizophrenic. As long as you can separate it from work, there's no reason it should exclude you at all.
  2. Well I'm glad you're taking the time to look into it, because nursing is not rainbows and butterflies as you said! It is a tough job and you have to think on your feet a lot, I'm a senior in my BSN program so I only have so much experience but I have seen a lot, and there is definitely a more to nursing than you would think going into it...however, I do feel like its my calling and passion! Some days more than others :) But please, to be a nurse you have to #1 CARE about people, even when they're gross and smelly and rude to you, you have to be professional and empathetic and caring. If you don't care about people then please don't pick it just as a job because its more than that! And you can tell that the unfavored nurses are the ones that come just to get the paycheck and could careless about what's going on with the patient.
  3. Hey! I just typed a long thing haha but I'd rather email it you! I was trying to figure out how to private message you on here but idk how! is there an email you can send me?
  4. Hi, I am graduating with my BSN in May '17 and SO excited to be direct commissioning into the Navy as a new nurse (I'm in a scholarship deal with the Navy). I just got notice that I have about 10 days to submit my DPS. I have had the chance to visit and personally tour and speak to nurses at Portsmouth and Walter Reed, but I still have questions. My list right now in priority is Portsmouth, JAX, San Diego. Does anyone have experience at any of these places or have insight into what the best choice out of these 3 would be (rhetorically speaking if I could "for sure" choose) for a new nurse with no military experience? Including insight into the residency programs...I know Portsmouth's sounded really good but I don't have any info on JAX or SD's programs. Thank you!!
