  1. I got an 85 overall. 100 on math. 80 on science. 67 on writing. 88 or 90 something on reading. She said everyone does the worst on writing and they don't take that into account. I used the kaplan ACT prep book for writing and although it did help with punctuation and pronouns, it didn't help with sentence placement. I used Barron's A&P study guide for science. The fact that I took AP2 the semester before the kaplan helped.. definitely focus on your circulatory and respiratory systems. A few urinary system questions also. The rest are very random.
  2. I did get in! :) the kaplan was just plain odd. Math and reading was easy. The writing portion seemed very subjective, it was a lot of which sentence should you delete, where should you add one. BUT, the passages were so poorly written in the first place that it was hard to spot out a very specific problem in a short amount of time. Science was basically all random A&P questions, mostly A&P 2. That section has the least amount of questions and seems a lot people do poorly, however NAU focuses majorly on your science score. When filtering applicants they rank everyone by your kaplan score, science first, and if you don't rank well they don't even look at your gpa. If you research there are a few really good forums giving better details on the kaplan questions.
  3. I love that idea! How will that work? Do you want to start the group let us know what you name it, then we can look it up and request to join? :)
  4. Got my letter from the Tucson program, accepted! Yay! Cheers to all of us!
  5. Was the email in to your personal email address??
  6. Ar2d2, I haven't received anything either. I heard last year the letters for different campuses went out different days also....what campus did you apply for??
  7. Congrats! What campus did you apply for Jenn?
  8. Should be any day now right??
  9. lol I am too!! We should be hearing back this week or next! Can you give me a heads up when you finally get an email and I will do the same?? :)
  10. My understanding is that you will receive an email in your personal email that you listed on your application, then you will get a letter in the mail weeks later. Can anyone confirm this? Lol I am so anxious also! Good luck to you as well!! :)
  11. AJ, from my understanding they do not count anything twice for the gpa calculation :)
  12. Hi @ajnurse1988, I am told that they first rank applicants based on their kaplan scores, beginning with science I believe, then look at gpa last. Your cumulative Kaplan score is great! Arizona is a great place to live in my opinion and NAU seems to have a very intimate program!
  13. Hey @pgeorge217, Im hoping to start classes at the NAU Tucson campus in fall. I think the CEP is a great option for those who live in phx since NAU doesn't have its own extended campus there. I hear nursing is great when you have a family and that getting your CNA helps with your clinical training! Good luck and stay confident! :)
  14. Hey @missyt439, Good luck on the CEP! Im sure you will be fine if micro is your only pending class! But I'm not 100% sure of the CEP requirements since sometimes they seem to vary by CC. Im sure you'll do great!
  15. @Tay_Lynne93 Do you know if a lot of NAU flagstaff students tend to apply for the Tucson campus? Or do most people choose to stay in flagstaff?
  16. @dylanmokoa I was told that each science and math course is calculated with a .02 gpa weight heavier than all other subjects of courses. Is that what you mean by bonus points??
  17. We have similar stats sarah. I got an 85 on the kaplan, an 80 in science. This is my first time applying and I have a 3.7gpa. I haven't really met any other applicants, I hope we get in!!
  18. When I looked through the forum for people who applied last semester it seems that above an 80 kaplan and 3.5 gpa was competitive. The Tucson nursing director says average for admissions is an 89 kaplan and 3.8 gpa but idk how many semesters that statistic is gathered from. What stats did you apply with??
  19. Sarah, i applied to the Tucson campus as my only choice! I am so excited to meet someone else who applied and so anxious to hear the admission results! Do you live In Tucson now? Do you mind sharing your gpa and kaplan score? Have you applied before?
  20. Hello! Im hoping to connect with NAU BSN applicants for this upcoming fall. Feel free to share what campus you're applying for and any of your stats if you would like... Looking forward to hearing from you, THANKS :)
  21. Hey! Pima sent out acceptance letters to your mypima email, not your personal email on friday. Check if you haven't already:)
  22. So I guess the lady that sends out the emails is out of town at the end of this month, so the person in the office said we won't hear back until the 1st or second week of march. I'm hoping by this Friday maybe? The sooner the better!
  23. Do we get notified just by email for both NAU and pima?? Please let me know when you hear back from either of them! :)
  24. The waiting is going to kill me! Lol. To top it off pima said the lady that sends out acceptance emails is out of town until the first week of march so they will be sending out letters a little later than normal
  25. Yeah I turned it in last week after my kaplan. She said she was confident in my test score and overall application, and not to worry about my writing score. At least you met the minimum which was 75 overall and 65 minimum science. I talked to a couple people who took the Kaplan the same day as I did, and they didn't get above a 70. Each application cycle is different so you never know. Even though they get like 150 applicants not everyone is applying for Tucson. I hope we both get in!!
