GSU Spring 2017
Carlsen_M, hahah! Love that comment, "as I drink more wine". We will get along just fine, and you are so right! We are in arguably the best program in the state, and I really am looking forward to getting to know you all in the spring.

And thank you fte2016! A great bit of news to get us through the end of this semester!

GSU Spring 2017
I said the averages are usually at least a 3.8 and 85+ on TEAS, agreeing that yes the averages are that high (key word average). Then I said Last semester no one was accepted with a GPA lower than a 3.8. I never used the word cutoff. I said I agreed with most of the averages I was seeing - I am not incorrect in saying that. But I apologize, my goal was not to disenfranchise anyone. I also emphasized each time that the averages vary with each applicant group. I honestly don't care to argue with you, but I do think it is unwise to assume because you got in with your stats that they would as well. I am pretty sure anyone applying to GSU is well aware of this, especially if they meet with an advisor. You are right, it is multi-factored - again with GPA and TEAS having the most points and weight.

I also said, no one was accepted to ACE last (Fall) semester with a GPA under a 3.8. Not this semester, just to clarify. So, again it varies with each group of applicants.

Ok, Carlsen_M I understand your point but I am relaying information I have heard from all advisors, not just Hugh. Shooting for a 3.8 and 85+ on the TEAS makes you extremely competitive, so I still recommend that as a motivator. I will definitely let him know he is misinformed. Congratulations to you and fte2016 your acceptance, excited to meet you next semester! Have a great break y'all!

GSU Spring 2017
I received mine today as well, but generally the average GPA for ACE is 3.8, so the applicant pool for Spring 2017 must have had lower GPAs overall. Last semester they didn't accept anyone into ACE below a 3.8, so no need to be dismissive. And yes there is an overall point system, but GPA and TEAS scores weigh more heavily than volunteer hours for example. But again, like I said it all depends on the pool of applicants that applied, it obviously changes each semester, but I wouldn't go forward assuming you're guaranteed a spot if your GPA is lower than a 3.8. Hugh Grant does PT now, but has done nursing forever and he still processed applications with Jamelle this semester - so he is still incredibly knowledgeable with regards to any nursing program questions.

Hey all, Congratulations on applying to the program! The stats that I have seen for average GPA and TEAS scores are pretty accurate. 3.8 GPA at the least for ACE, and an 85+ for TEAS. However, it really depends upon the pool of applicants. Hugh has told us that we would hear about decisions the week before break and Jamelle has told me we would hear the week after. I have also heard from students who are currently in the ACE program that they received an email regarding admissions before their status on the application status check website updated, so you may not even want to check your status update (I stopped looking for the sake of my sanity). Have a great break everyone, and good luck!
