Advice for a New grad ICU vs Oncology
Hello all, I am seeking the opinions of those with experience who are willing to share. I am a New Grad RN and have been blessed to receive 3 job offers. Two different ICU positions and an outpatient Oncology job. I am torn with what job to take and could use some advice. If you were a new grad, which would you pick and why? I see pros and cons to both but not a clear cut winner.

Sumner College February 2021 cohort
Is anyone else on here applying to the next cohort at Sumner in Portland, Oregon? It would be nice to connect and see where each of us is at in the application process, and ultimately support each other in the program should we gain admission. Nursing is a wonderful profession and I wish you all the best. I have my interview next week. Has anyone completed theirs already and have any advice?

Sumner College RN 2020 June Cohort
There is a lot of good information in this thread. I was curious as to how COVID is effecting this school and had all my questions answered. I submitted my application recently for the 2/2021 start date and am now in review. Hopefully all goes as planned and I will be back in school early next year.

Platt College and ACC Nursing pathway
Do you have friends in any other programs? If so how does is platt's program compare? I am curious about the clinicals. I talked with a third year student and she told me they could not find a clinical site for a specific lesson, so she had to do all her hours with the simulation.

Platt college nursing Aurora admissions process
The cost is pretty intimidating to me as well. I look at it as the fastest way for me to get into the work force, so the investment seems reasonable... I have no college, been in the military since I graduated high school, the fact that the prerequisites are rolled in is the greatest benefit for myself. Do you have friends in other programs? If so how does is compare? I am curious about the clinicals. I talked with a third year student and she told me they could not find a clinical site for a specific lesson, so she had to do her hours with the simulation....

Thank you for the information. I am pursing acceptance right now. Do you remember much of the process? Any information would be great, also tips for the TEAS.

Platt college nursing Aurora admissions process
I am in the process of applying right now. I still have to take the SAT or TEAS before my application is complete. I hope that not having college or health care experience is not held against me to much. I joined the military after high school and hope that is taken into account during the process. How do you like the program so far? Are the location for clinical decent? Do you have any tips for those applying?

Platt College and ACC Nursing pathway
I have a few questions about Platt College. I have read all the threads about the school in the past but i have noticed that the information may now be outdated. A lot of the previous complaints were about the school not being accredited, but i see on there website that they are now accredited by the ACEN, State Board of Nursing, and the Colorado Department of Education. With these accreditations, if i were to get a degree, would that allow me to move on to an institute of higher education and become a practitioner? Would those who have experiences with Platt recommend it? I am considering either Platt or perhaps the Integrated Nursing program in Aurora. Any information on both would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of great information! Thank you very much. I think that looking into completing the biology class online before starting school in the fall would be beneficial. Do you know of a online school that WOU would recognize the bio credits from? I have spent a lot of time researching the CNA route, unfortunately it does not seem very practical for me at this time. Not only am I in Virginia until next fall, my military schedule keeps me from attending the CNA courses in town. Perhaps once I am back in Oregon I can take the course while working an IT job, what I do now, or registration at the hospital.

Military to college advice.
Good afternoon everyone. I joined this forum in hopes to gather some knowledge. I am 22 years old and finishing up my enlistment in the military. Next fall I will be attending WOU to start my long awaited journey of becoming an RN. I have a few questions to ask you to better prepare myself for the trials ahead. My first is in regards to prerequisite courses. Is it possible to complete all of OHSU's requirements in one year? I have hopes of starting the program in fall of 2018, is this foolish thinking? I have an English and a psychology class completed, and am still unaware how many credits WOU will grant me from my naval training. Moving on, any ideas on part time jobs while in school? What are some good entry level positions to apply for in the hospital, I prefer the ER in Salem but will take what I can get? Thank you all very much for your time and I look forward to your responses.
