  1. I don't believe so! I would try to concentrate on why you didn't get accepted the first time though so you could try to focus on improving in that area (whether it was a low TEAS score, interview fell flat, ect.) for next time to show that you are serious about getting in. The main thing to focus on in my opinion is the TEAS. I would worry about the essays and interview after that.
  2. The schedule varies slightly term to term. Mostly, I've had a couple classes Tues/Wed, and labs on Fri. But you have to be prepared for them to change it slightly. Plenty of people in my group work still, including myself. Your best bet would be working on the weekends, which is what I do. It can be tiring at times, but manageable. Especially if you have prerequisites done, which I should also note has lessened my class load. Because I had all my prereqs done at PCC, the program is costing me a little over $30k. It's more if you don't transfer in classes. It's worth it to me though because I got tired of waiting to be accepted at a community college. Hope this helps.
  3. I’m in the cohort that started this June (17)! I’m actually sooo excited that you responded to this because I have stalked your profile for almost a year and you actually helped me decide on applying for sumner. I love it so far, despite the online hiccups! So thanks for that ☺️ I currently work for legacy as an aid and I’m alittle bummed I can’t apply there as an internal candidate for their RN residency. I am even considering trying to get a CNA job at Providence or Vancouver PeaceHealth for an increased chance at getting into a hospital, because I did SNF CNA work for 3 years out of my 6 years as an aid and don’t really want to do it again (though I will if needed for experience, no problem). I also worked at Adventist for a year and think they hire adns! Thanks for the clinical info, I start my 2nd term in two weeks and I don’t even think we are going to do any in person clinicals because of covid ? sounds like we are doing virtual simulations instead. Makes me feel nervous for my classmates that have zero healthcare experience.
  4. Since I am only going into my second term, I can’t really answer that question because I’m unsure of what’s going to happen because of covid. I am also mainly interested in acute, but for my area I know I won’t get a job in it right away because most hospitals in Oregon require your BSN. I plan on getting my BSN after sumner. This would be a great question for @OliveOyl91 . I’m also curious about this.
  5. If you go on my profile and click on my recent post, on the second page I have listed questions they asked ? I would suggest writing down previous patient care experiences you’ve had so you have reference stories for the interview. I jotted down quick examples of tough situations and how I handled them. My interview was also via zoom due to the pandemic, so it was less nerve racking for me.
  6. Hi there! I got a 77% and got accepted for the June cohort this year. As long as you do good on your essays and score at least 7/10 pts total before the panel then you move on to the interview
  7. Hi again! I think if they say you are in review, it means you most likely got a panel interview. Shortly after they sent me an email saying I was in review, I got contacted to schedule my panel review. I had 8/10 points before the interview, and the interview is 5 points. You need to get 12/15 as you probably know. I would say it sounds like you have an interview, and as long as you do good you will get in. Just be prepared to answer questions related to your experience. You mentioned earlier that you are in the medical field, so focus on specific examples. I actually wrote down examples and re-read them before the interview. There were questions like: - Why nursing? -What do you do in a conflict with a coworker? -How has you experience prepared you for school? - What are some of your biggest life accomplishments? - What have been some of your challenges along the way? ect., I wrote down patient care examples and strengths/weaknesses. The interview was easier than I anticipated because I wrote down my examples prior. And yeah I don’t mind if we do that.
  8. Yeah no problem! I was sooo concerned about my score too but everything worked out fine! It is great that you already have medical experience, I think it helps a ton. I’m also a hospital CNA, and most of the people in my cohort have medical experience. I know it’s hard to have patience when applying, but I think the schools been really busy adjusting to covid-19 as well ? also if I remember correctly, when I asked they said that if a cohort fills up, but you still got an interview and 12/15 points, you could get automatically put into the next cohort.
  9. I only submitted it to the rep and got the response from them. I would say that if you feel that it is taking longer then it should, maybe try to call the school and see what they have to say? I would also apply on the application page soon if they don’t respond. And don’t worry about your TEAS score too much, I got accepted with one point lower than you (77)! My level of nursing experience is what I felt helped me move forward onto getting accepted after the interview, so you have a decent chance. I know it’s nerve racking waiting to hear!
  10. It took me two weeks to hear back after I sent everything in, so I would wait a little longer. Putting it this way, I started the whole process/application mid to late March, and got an interview date set in April for early May, got accepted and started in June. So it can take some time. My timeline also might be a little bit off, give or take. I sent my TEAS score in the application but I don’t think that I needed to since they do keep record of it. So far the program has been going great. Hope this helps!
  11. That’s awesome, I would say you have a pretty good chance of being accepted! If you have other questions, feel free to let me know!
  12. 84% is a good score for the TEAS! I got a 77%. The interview isn’t too intimidating (especially if you do it via zoom call like I did). Be sure to focus on specific examples related to your nursing experience/why you want to be a nurse (beyond just wanting to help people). Do you have cna experience? Good luck!
  13. From what I understand you will have to go through a program which has an accreditation agreement, but alot of those programs require past college coursework (Linfield, Walla Walla, ect). I was able to transfer the maximum amount of transfer credits to Sumner, and I have an AAOT degree from Portland Community College. I will most likely choose to do Sumner's RN-BSN program if they accept my transfer credits. Hope this helps! ?
  14. Hello, has anyone else on this site been accepted into Sumner College's RN program in Portland, OR? I would love to get to know everyone since we can't meet for at least 4 weeks most likely! Excited to get to know you all! I'm also thrilled to start next week ?
