I don't think that's something that they're willing or able to do. If they did, they'd be swamped with calls all day every day asking for everyone's personal app status. Unless you mean that you are just now trying to submit it and want to make sure they have all the documents, but that is easy to access in the online application portal. I know now it sucks to wait; I'm super antsy too. But we're all just going to have to wait until we get the email saying an update has been made to our applications. Will be Feb-March.

hey! As far as interviews go, it depends on your program. Some, like the CNM, will always do interviews with competitive candidates. Others, like FNP, do not do interviews (except maybe if they need clarification? Not sure on that). I'd recommend looking back through this thread and seeing if others in PMHNP have talked about doing interviews. I think that program does require them, but I'm not totally sure. When I had my interview (CNM) they did seem to have my whole application in front of them, as it was referenced several times and they even quoted parts of my essay.

2016 Applications for CNM Specialty (non-nursing Bachelor's degree)
Hey all! Just finished my interview. Overall, I think it went excellently. One new piece of information, maybe specifically for CNM applicants: he told me that they were expecting letters to go out late Feb/early March. This kind of surprised me, as it's gone out earlier in past years, even though they had a later deadline than we did this year. But I guess that's the newest update for anyone waiting... we've got a long way to go! Yikes!

How was the Vandy interview? Was it really only 10-15 minutes? Was it the same for Penn?

Hey everyone! I applied for the direct entry CNM program and got an email about scheduling an interview today. I'll be having it on the 19th! I have HEARD (but cannot confirm) from those in the program already that the interview is basically a formality, and if you're interviewed your pretty much as good as in. I don't know if that's true.... I guess we'll see in the next couple months! But it seems a good guess, especially since the interview is only supposed to be 10-15 minutes. I got sent a few program documents to review and see if I have any questions about them.

2016 Applications for CNM Specialty (non-nursing Bachelor's degree)
Hi!! I also wanted to throw my hat in this ring. I majored in religion in undergrad, and was accepted to Vanderbilt Divinity school last year but chose not to go to pursue my career in Homeless Outreach/Social Work. I've been fascinated by midwifery since before I finished undergrad in 2012, and decided this year that I am going to actually pursue it. It's definitely an interest that hasn't faded. The only school I applied to this year is Vanderbilt. This is mostly because I already live in Nashville, and I own a house, so it would be a little difficult to pick up and move to go back to school. It's TOTALLY something I'm willing to do, but for this first year I thought I'd give Vanderbilt a shot, since it would be my #1 choice and also extremely convenient. If I am not accepted, I'm going to try for several other schools next year. My undergrad GPA was a 3.2, and I'm not sure what my prereq GPA is, since I'm still working on that. My GRE was a mixed bag. I got 99th percentile on the writing assessment, 98th percentile on qualitative, but only 40th percentile on quantitative/math :/ I'm really hoping this is something they are willing to be flexible on. I'm with you on the nervousness there, itsacalling521! I feel like my personal statement will be a huge plus, and my work experience will be too. I've had a ton of training in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and other interpersonal skills required in social work. I've also worked with Vanderbilt's Street Medicine team and got a recommendation from the doctor who heads that up. So far I feel like my drawbacks are: GRE math score, no birthing experience, undergrad GPA was not above a 3.5. My strengths, I think, are: personal statement, experience with the under-served, experience with street medicine, recommendations from Vanderbilt doctors, thoughtful essay responses. But who knows... it's a toss up! Vanderbilt's midwifery program only admits 15 prespecialty applicants a year, so you're right -- it's possible that the whole applicant pool this year is incredibly qualified. Good luck, y'all!! I hope we all end up where we want to be! Let's keep each other updated!
