  1. Firstly, I would like to thank you all for replying to my post and actually offering help. You are truly wonderful and I appreciate your support. I am going to spend tomorrow looking over my notes. I will post my exact problems as soon as I learn the language. Bear in mind I just started my course on Wednesday and for the first time, it's pretty daunting. Also, my teacher is extremely passionate and she moves pretty fast and is a little all over the place. I will let you all know shortly. Once again, thank you soooooo much.
  2. Hello Everyone! I am taking my first chemistry course ever. I am totally lost. I need some assistance in understanding the periodic table of elements, the math, EVERYTHING!. Anyone have websites that provide assistance in understanding Chemistry. I thank you so much in advance for any help.
  3. Hi Everyone, I was wondering, is anyone out there doing Substance Abuse Nursing? Do you like it? Any tips on finding a job in the field? I appreciate any input you have.
  4. Hello everyone. Went on my first job interview Wednesday and was told about the various shifts available in the hospital. Was told that there were positions available on the 1. Psychiatric Unit 2. Surgical Unit 3. Mother Baby Unit 4. Telemetry Unit 5. Orthopedics Unit. I told the interviewer that I needed some time to think over which unit I'd like to work on. HOW DO I DECIDE? Do you guys know of a website or can you share information about the different units and the pros and cons or advantages of each. I really need some help. Thank you soooo much in advance.
  5. AWESOME TIP FOR REMEMBERING LAB VALUES ARMY KITTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. It's hard to imagine a culture of rough looking, steaking eating, beer drinking, crocodile hunters producing nurses that are team players that don't eat their young. j/k. Stereotypes are wrong. hehehe That is so hilarious! but yet so true about stereotypes LMAO
  7. It's sooooooo good to have a forum that I can turn to to keep some sanity. I tell you I was numb on the way home from the exam. I bought some Chinese comfort food and locked myself away all evening. I don't want to be negative...........God know's I studied hard but it's so hit or miss. I keep trying to think positive and will do all I can to maintain a positive attitude. But........................ I too wish us all well. I really hope that our uncertainty is based on nerves. If you guys are like me, I'm tired, and want to get my life on track. So much of my life has been dedicated to this goal and I want to start working.
  8. Hello all. I also took my NCLEX this morning at 9am. I hear a lot of people talk about getting the minimum # of questions and feeling good about it etc. But when my computer shut off at 85 questions I literally felt sick to my stomach because I honestly cannot say that I felt confident in my performance. The questions of that exam were abnormal and NOTHING like what I studied in the review books. If a topic was in the question that I was familiar with, then the choices were absolutely foreign to me. I don't know.................Has anyone had similar experiences?
  9. Well, unfortunately you had to experience this type of behavior. You know what? It doesn't matter how much you try sometimes you cannot please EVERYONE. As my mom would say, "you can cut your heart out, stuff your chest cavity with trash and give it to some people on a platter and they would still find fault with you". Also, in this society in which we live there will always be people with prejudices. But, you know what, you continue to keep bettering yourself education-wise, and you continue to keep administering good nursing care and your efforts will definitely be rewarded. If you don't have any issues with your "plain, homely" appearance, then brush your shoulders off and keep on moving. However, if this is a constant looming issue for you then think of ways in which you can build your self esteem and then implement them. Perhaps, you can find a nursing shop that tailors uniforms to your specifications etc. Lastly, NEVER remain in an environment (if you can help it) that compromises how you feel about you! You will be doing yourself a disservice. In all, keep your head up girl, and continue to keep doing all you can do to make yourself the best nurse/person you can be.
