  1. Hi all, I came to this site to ask for advice. I currently work as a caregiver, I help my client get his insulin so one day about 1 month ago I got a needle prick when he handed me his insulin shot given by himself! It poke me on the palm, exactly on the thenar eminence. I am currently in nursing school and I can't afford blood tests or health insurance. I was not wearing gloves because I didn't give it. I washed my hands with soap and water and squeezed for blood but almost nothing came out. I asked my client's wife about his most recent tests and she said he has no HIV or HCV. Any advice?
  2. Cool, I guess I'll just wait. I was wondering if I made it into their chancellor percentage formula because I was told by EVC in SJ that it was 68% (not sure how they got that info) but in Ohlone College was 75%. Don't know how that works. Thanks though.
  3. Cool, when did you get the number? Will they notify if we didn't make it?
  4. Have received anything yet? I have not maybe im not even on the list. Will they notify us if we didn't make it? I wonder..
  5. I might if I really wanted.. no children and I can find a job near the school though my husband job would be a bit the problem. The program is 18 months.. ugh. Decisions decisions..
  6. I been wanting to reapply to nursing schools but it would probably take forever to get in. I found a LVN/LPN school that cost 6K it's an adult school but the commute is like 2hrs from where I live. Is it worth it? Am I crazy to even consider it?
  7. What 20K??? What school is that??? I'm also applying to LVN programs and 3 RN programs. I wouldn't mind paying that money lol I'm in the bay area CA btw
  8. I'm on the same exact boat as you are. My problem was that I underestimated nursing school the very first exam and didn't study well obviously I failed, I failed badly that first exam and bam it hit me hard to realize THIS IS NURSING SCHOOL! I did okay on the next exams but that 67 f*cred me up and failed the course for 2 pts ugh. I'm 26 and I will give it another shot please try try again. I'm pursuing a degree in public health as a back up since they count all your nursing pre-requisite! DON'T GIVE UP! I HEAR YOU!
  9. Hey how much is the LVN-RN in unitek?
  10. I don't know and to be honest my gpa isn't greater than 3.0 though I can still apply to a few ADN programs and my school counselor suggested to apply to the health science major at CSUEB that will later qualify me to apply to the nursing program there as well. I will meet her soon again next week to get more details. If you can get into nursing first I would go for it. I messed up during my early 20s so now I will just wait and see what's out there for me.
  11. I'm in the same situation! Any updates?
  12. What did you major in? I'm going to give it a try again if I don't get into any nursing school next year I'll switch majors.
  13. I was attending a community college (ADN program) in the bay area. The college doesn't do any pre-assesment prior entrance to the program. I've been working full time as a CNA and MA ever since I finished HS. It took me a while to finish my pre-reqs because I needed to work. I know I shouldn't blame the school, nor my professors - on the contrary they were very knowledgeable. I feel like I was caught off guard with the type of exams in nursing school since I didn't do well on the very first one which affected me through out the class and when I tried to bounce back I failed.
  14. You are right, I'm just a little bit frustrated but I know I want to do this so bad. I did excellent on clinicals and now I need to start applying again and wait that's what upsets me. I'm wasting time and I'm already 27 with no degree. Thanks for the comments I can do this.
  15. Fundamentals was easy now that I think about it I was just not ready. Thank you, good luck on nursing school!
