  1. Same degree for me. You definitely need to look elsewhere.
  2. Where do you work? What level of degree do you have?
  3. I have asked a number of friends whom all just got new grad nursing jobs at area hospitals and the results are: UMMC: $28.50/hr + differential for nights and weekends Frankling Square: $26.50/hr + differential AAMC: $27.50/hr + differential Hopkins: $60k/yr (no differential, but they have "high needs" pay which can be more than $50/hr) NIH: $32/hr The differentials are all different percentages and make each hospital equivalent to around $60k/yr. Keep in mind that in Maryland cost of living expenses are significantly different as you get closer to DC. A townhouse in a good school district only 1 hr. from DC will cost close to $400k...2 hrs. from DC, the same house would only cost $300K...very close to DC, the same house will be closer to $500-$600K.
  4. I did a ride along with a flight crew about a year ago and I have never been so impressed with the skills and knowledge they had. In addition, the physical demand is crazy. Hats off to all of you who do that kind of work. As a student who is almost graduating, I am unsure my skills will ever be up to par to be a flight nurse.
  5. When I interviewed, it was very similar to a job interview. I think they are looking for what you are generally like as a person to see if your personality matches the role of a nurse. It took place in an office with one faculty member and one admissions person. It it was pretty painless. You our guys are lucky to get your writing sample at home. They sprung it on us at the interview and we had to hand write it there on the spot.
  6. Hey there. I am a part time student and will be graduating in May. I only have practicum left to take. I personally think that you should buy all of your first semester books (but you can buy the older versions for sure) and also purchase the Adult Health book (2nd semester). All other textbooks can be rented. Some can even be checked out from the library. Feel free to ask me any questions. Having someone who was further advanced than I was in the program was so helpful to me, so I would love to return the favor.
  7. It's technically 21 months if you go full-time; however, it's 4 full semesters plus a full summer (you can split your summer courses into two summers if you start in the spring).
  8. Rockville has great schools. Probably one of the more expensive areas to live in Maryland.
