Your situation depends on what the agency has done for you already, there is usually a monetary penalty if you choose to leave after the agency has processed and paid for your immigration and/or licensure. If they haven’t done anything for you then send them an email requesting termination of contract and be sure to state your reasons why you’re leaving including them not fulfilling their part of the contract. If they have done something for you, you can still send them same email but you’ll be fined as penalty for breach of contract. You are able to terminate contract either way.

That’s assuming it doesn’t happen again cause they said she will start the contract all over again if it does. She left the agency after that.

Hi Nadine, Be sure to clarify your contract with Interstaff, they got new management and a colleague went through an unfair situation with them. She ran into some issues with the facility she was working and her contract was terminated by the facility after almost a year, Interstaff got her a new contract and wanted to start counting the 3 years contract all over again.

I know someone who did that with passportusa because of delayed filing with no implications. Agencies are different but it seems plausible to not be liable if they never did fulfill their part of the contract

I can recall being here, hating it, planning a way out and never wanting to do bedside (good thing the profession is versatile). I also loved maths and barely studied for exams. It felt so basic. I wanted to be an Elect engineer, used to open every faulty electrical device and try to fix them growing up(succeeded a few times) and I fell so far from that tree? Almost 6 years after becoming a registered nurse and I love the profession, i love bedside, there are some lows but there are highs also. I found a specialty I love and got a relatively good work environment and that was all it took. It got easier for me, and I have plans to grow in the profession. Also, the profession isn't as basic as I thought as a student. I might have done well as an engineer, i will never know but I'm doing great as a nurse. Pharmacology seem like a good option for you like someone suggested but there is no guarantee. I think it's too early to judge nursing cause you haven't even scratched the surface and leaving will be a terrible financial decision.

I know about nursing agencies but not hospitals. The agencies are westways staffing (travel agency), o'grady peyton, interstaff and shearwater healthcare. The catch is that you have to sign a contract to work with them for a couple of years, 2-3yrs depending on the one you choose with a penalty fee if you leave before completion. Good luck!
