Any Spring/Summer ADN programs available to apply for?
Hello, Most programs have already filled seats for a Spring/January start. Most of the programs in central AL start in Fall only....with a few exceptions like Jefferson State Community College. They usually have cohort every term...spring, summer, fall...but due to changing curriculum they will not have a summer 2017 cohort next year. I believe other central CC programs are Lawson State, Wallace State-Hanceville, a CC in Tuscaloosa (not Birmingham)...but I believe all of these only start in Fall. This AL thread is generally not active../or updated often but hopefully someone else can provide insight as well. Oh just looked up Wallace State, they had a Spring 2017 cohort as well...but of course the deadlines have passed/classes filled. Do you have any more of the pre-reqs to take? Is cost a factor? Do you know if you will be residing in Birmingham or another part of AL? All of that factors in as well. Hope that helps, Blue

Question: Has everyone that has been accepted for Spring 2017 taken the co-requisites courses for the program? Meaning, will you just be taking the nursing courses throughout the program? Does anyone know if this makes the program more "manageable" if one can say that? Question: Also has anyone been recommended any nursing apps, books, study aids, etc?

I submitted my application Oct 5 and had 195 points..but I am not sure how they are going about notifying everyone. I would imagine everyone would be notified by tomorrow perhaps? given the details in the email but I'm not certain.

Interested in seeing how working is possible here as clinical begins the first semester as well? I do know for the Fall, part time, weekend program you can work. I imagine one could possibly work evening, night, or weekend? Perhaps, but I have a visual disability and cannot see at night which is why I have mostly applied to day jobs but do not know what to do if I get a job offer and a seat in the Spring 2017 cohort. I will just play it by ear and see Best of Luck to us all!!!

Jefferson state spring/summer 2017
I turned in my application literally a day before deadline, October 5. I was told by the pre-nursing advisor that notices would go out the first week of November, which would be next week. I have been nervous and stoked on even the possibility of getting into the program; however, I may have an employment opportunity available. Torn on what to do and do not have a spouse, partner, or sponsor somewhere that could offset the financials involved since the campus is about 30 miles out from where I reside. Oh but I must get accepted first…no cart before horse here… (sigh)

The wait surely is agonizing since October has just flown by in my opinion. But I am also very nervous. Nervous about getting accepted (everyone says the program is rigorous) and nervous about not getting in. 1. Does anyone know if the rigorousness is due to professors? volume of work? and/or person's taking co-requisites while in the nursing program versus only nurse courses? 2. Has anyone heard if the curricular changes will affect this Spring 2017 cohort? I ask because the old curriculum consists of 5 more credit hours than the new proposed curricula for Fall 2017?

Jefferson state spring/summer 2017
Hi there, I joined recently to do the same. I have always wish it was more activity in this AL thread. I was told by the advisor that we will find out the first week of Nov. Hopefully that still stands. Fingers crossed.

Did not mean to double post...but if there is a current student or recent former student from JS jeff campus, is it possible to PM me as I have some questions that I haven't seem to find "current" answers to. Thanks in advance

Hello, I just checked out the website and can confirm the same. I am literally shaking myself. Although, I went ahead and applied for Spring 2017..if I am not accepted, I had planned on the following term. Wowsers. I wonder why the sudden change as I just was up that way this week.
