  1. I'm sure you can't either....remember you don't follow district's policies and procedures
  2. Trust me you are not alone. This is my 2nd year as a school nurse and I still miss the excitement of working in LTC, but I have a 2nd job that make's up for the excitement that I'm missing. But every weekend, holiday, and summer off is enough excitement. Hope it gets better for you.
  3. You sure we don't work at the same place? GEESH!!! Sounds like where I work.
  4. I already know my district's policy as stated before. I was not asking a question or wanting anybody's opinions about anything like I said before my district does not allow anything given without a doctor's order don't know why I just follow the policy
  5. It's not a dumb question you as a nurse should know that people allergic to shellfish is actually allergic to the iodine in shellfish and some table salt has iodine in it do your research NURSE! no medical question is dumb!
  6. Oh ok but my school policy says differ
  7. So will you give a child with shellfish allergies salt water to gargle with?
  8. Because what you think would be ok to give might have an affect on that person and the first person that's gonna get blame is the nurse because she gave a simple salt water gargle. You never know. It's a liability thing. Nurses need protection too
  9. It's not weird for me and I'm not over 60
  10. Well I understand completely why my school district does what it does and I'm glad they are strict with the policy. If i gave a child say for instance salt water to gargle and something happens after I gave the salt water gargle. Who do you think they gone blame? All about protection/liability.
  11. Essential oils...what they want a spa treatment lol
  12. But wait a minute salt seems like it would irritate the throat more
  13. WOW...LOL
  14. Well unfortunately at this school I can't give anything like that unless it's a doctor's order
  15. Right..I was thinking the same thing
  16. Butter and salt....LOL really
  17. 4th grader came in complaining of a sore throat. States her throat been sore for a week now. Took her temperature and no fever. Asked her what mom said she said mom just been giving her cough medicine. ok..gave student a drink of water. Spoke with mom and mom wanted me to give her warm salt water couldn't find any salt... gave her plain water... first time somebody ever ask for salt water .....back to class she goes just wondering if any of you school nurses had parents to ask for weird stuff

Oh Wow...but I don't think that's the case because she still had a lot of her lashes there and she haven't been back

  21. Right.....the story of my life
  22. That moment when a child gets hurt and she is hysterically crying and you finally get her to calm down and all the staff comes in saying poor thing are you ok what happened and the child starts right back screaming and crying:arghh: plz I understand your concern but could you not come in and ask those magic questions "Are you ok?" "What happen?" Child starts crying again hysterically:no:
  23. It's all about who you know and what you know. RNs and LPNs are all nurses and they both save lives.
  24. Exactly I just want to do my job and be left alone also because I'm sure I know what I'm doing
  25. Exactly you said a mouth full thanks
