  1. For the CGFNS Visa Screen Certificate, did you pay for the regular option or pay extra for the expedited version?

  3. Thanks for the quick response! I have more questions I want to ask you, but it won't let me direct message you. If you can direct message me, can we chat through email or something? Thank you! 5. Hi Jennycrands! Did you receive your VisaScreen certificate yet? How long did it take after you applied if you did? Thank you. ------- I'm from Ontario, Canada. I want to work in New York. This is my journey so far: - I have my NCLEX-RN - CGFNS Visa Screen (Just applied Jan 2021, waiting to hear back) - New York State License (NYS License) is pending. I used CGFNS's NYS Verification to help me. First applied in Sept. 2019. After lots of obstacles of wrong documents and missing signatures, it was finally completed and sent to NYSED (New York State Education Department) in May 2020. In Sept 2020, NYSED informed me that CNO has to send NYSED a copy of my NCLEX and license verification themselves (even though it was already included in my CGFNS NYS verification). After more back and forth with NYSED, CNO, and covid interruptions (e-mail and mailing issues), CNO sent my license and info to NYSED in Dec. 2020. I am currently waiting to hear back from NYSED if they will give me a New York State RN License. There were a lot of mistakes, miscommunication, and COVID-19 interruptions with my NYS license application. I believe it would not have taken this long if COVID didn't happen.
  6. Hi again. How did you get the emails of the US recruiters or hospitals before meeting them?
  7. Okay I will look into it ? What state are you in now?
  8. Hello thanks for responding! No update yet. I am still waiting for my NY license to be approved. How long did it take for your CGFNS Visa Screen? And when did you apply for it? I will apply for it soon but I don't know if COVID will delay it or not.
  9. Or do I need the H1B Visa?
  10. I'm a Canadian nurse (Toronto) looking to move to New York and work there permanently. The requirements I know of are: - pass NCLEX - New York nursing license (NYSED) - VisaScreen (from CGFNS) - TN Visa (NAFTA work Visa) Am I missing any other requirements? After I get all the requirements, can I apply to hospital positions if I am from Canada? I get the sense that most people apply to travel agencies for short term contracts since they plan to return to Canada or their original country. However, I plan to stay in the US so do hospitals hire international nurses with TN visas? Thank you!
  11. Thanks for your response Ricky! I already passed my NCLEX exam and I'm waiting for NYSED to review my license application sent by CGFNS (but there's an extra long wait because of COVID-19). Originally I was just planning to apply to hospitals and ask them to sponsor a work permit. Do you know any Travel Nurse companies you can recommend?
  12. Hi, I'm from Canada and recently graduated from an OR course similar to Periop101 and I've been working at a level 1 trauma center for a few months. If COVID-19 didn't happen, and we are back in "normal times," 1. I want to know if it is common for NYC hospitals to hire international OR nurses. 2. Is there usually an orientation for newly hire staff in the OR even if they were previously experienced at a different facility (or country in my case)? 3. Do RNs only circulate in NYC hospitals or is scrubbing an option too? (I know there are scrub techs in USA). Thank you ?
