Hi future nursing student! I graduated from the E/W program this past summer. My group was the very first cohort to go through the program. It will be both challenging and rewarding - and it will fly by! There will be long days at class and clinical and you will think they will never end. But trust me, you will blink and it will be over with, and so worth it! A few tips: -Stay on top of your financial aid! Our group had a terrible time with aid and the counselor there isn't as responsive as he should be. Know what you should be getting, watch your account, and don't be afraid to advocate! -Despite what they tell you, you DO NOT need to read every page, word for word. Use the power points as your guide and then utilize the reading to augment what you learned in class. -Speaking of class, most instructors allow you to record the lectures. This is great if you happen to miss a lecture and need to get the recording from a friend. But try not to miss any classes, it really sets you behind since the E/W group covers much more. -Make the very most out of clinical. As a newly practicing nurse, I can tell you that it can be terrifying to encounter something in practice and not have your clinical instructor to fall back on. You will be very well prepared when you graduate, but take as much initiative as possible to see and do everything you can because it will only help you once you graduate. A couple of other things...The program is rigorous, tough, and exhausting. Time management and organization will be paramount. You are going to spend more time there than you probably want to. But enjoy it and the people around you. Our group became very close knit. Advocate for eachother and don't get involved in petty drama. Also, you will not have the same opportunities available to you as the regular day group does (which was one of our biggest issues with the program). However, in the end, this doesn't matter because you will finish 6 months sooner (which equals BIG money, trust me ). The faculty is the very best and they all want you to succeed. If you fully immerse yourself into the experience, and don't allow yourself to get sidetracked, then you will flourish! Please feel free to ask any questions!

It was fantastic. Great people, classmates, some incredible speakers. Most everything was ready for us and I'm pretty sure my classmates will agree that it got us even more excited to start! I really enjoyed it.

Hi there! My tip would be to relax and be yourself. I know it sounds cliche but they really just want to just get to know you. Think about your motivation for becoming a nurse because they will want to know. Also, do some research on the school and on Crouse in general. Familiarize yourself with what services they offer and what sets them apart from other hospitals and programs in the area. Everyone is very nice. You'll do great!

Hi there, I believe it is orientation for all new students. I'm in the evening program and will be attending the same orientation next week. They may split us up for different things though. I can't believe this is actually happening!

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday! Is everyone getting excited/nervous/ready?? We are just a little more than 3 weeks away from D-day. Are you all waiting to purchase your stethoscope and other supplies? I think I want to wait and see what they say during orientation first before I go out and buy the wrong thing.

I agree! I am glad some of us have already chatted a little bit on here... helps to break the ice a little. I noticed when registering that there were only like 25 spaces in some of the evening spots... I think our cohort will be pretty small and hopefully tight knit.

Thanks Morgan! I got the email too. I am sticking with the Thursday and Friday clinicals I think. I already worked my schedule out around that plus I think I will want weekends off to rest and catch up. I cannot believe how quickly this is going! I'm getting pretty nervous but really excited!

No worries, morggadams!! I sat next to a girl that was also just accepted, although she wasn't sure if it was day or evening. I also really liked the class. I thought the instructor was pretty funny and the class went by faster than I thought. It was weird because as I was sitting there, this whole nursing school thing started to feel very very real! Has anyone heard anything about course registration or email setup? I haven't gotten anything in a while... wanted to make sure it wasn't just me.

Me!!! I'll be there. Do you want to be my partner for any CPR stuff? I always hate that awkwardness going into something where you don't know anyone and then they ask you to partner up.

HG16, yes, an email came out on like the 10th about it. It is $60 and is 3 hours. Is that a better price than what you have found? I was thinking that if it was through them that it might be cheaper.

Mine didn't change either, until I put the deposit down, and then it just said that it was deposited. Is anyone else doing the CPR class that they are offering on the 30th? I am going to go ahead and take it since my old CPR cert. expired.

I think I am going to try, yes. I would like to get the tour and see the facilities more before January - maybe so I don't feel so lost when everything starts? It is in the evening so I should be able to make it. It seems like there are a few of us on here that have been accepted into the evening program - If anyone wanted to meet at the open house to say "hi" before classes start, it would be fun! :)

There have been a couple of emails about financial aid. I think one or two of them were sent to everyone regardless of acceptance. Once I put my deposit down, I received several emails regarding different things that needed to be completed, and one of them was financial aid.

Did you get anything in the mail yet? I've been thinking about you!

I might give them a call. The deposit is due by 11/06 so I'm surprised you haven't gotten yours yet.

It was like 2 weeks or so after the interview... so not too long. The status on my online application hasn't changed at all, even though I checked it every day lol. Did you apply to St. Joe's too?

My fingers are crossed for you! You should hear something soon I would think. I just mailed in my deposit today. I need to get going on filling out the FAFSA and getting my CPR certification renewed. Time is going by significantly faster than I anticipated!

Yay! Congrats! A couple of us on here have been accepted as well. Will you be doing evening or day classes? It would be great to virtually "meet" a few people before classes start in January. :)

I did! The Kaplan was the last piece of the puzzle for me, so once I had completed that, I had everything else in and ready to go. I interviewed about 2 weeks later and then about two weeks after that (last wednesday) I got my acceptance letter. I also applied to St. Joes, but I don't expect I'll hear anything from them until much later. I think I will still put the deposit down on Crouse. I have gotten such a good feeling from there, but whenever I talk to St. Joes, it is just not the same. Plus, I wasn't in love with the facilities at Joes. Honestly, the only thing I like better about them is their schedule. Are you working at all or will you work during school? I am going to drop to part time and see how it goes.

Hi there! I was just accepted into an ADN program through a local hospital and the program starts this January. My family would like to get me some Christmas gifts this year that might help me out in school, but I am not sure what to suggest. I am hesitant to get a really expensive stethoscope because I'm just a student (graduation gift maybe??). I was wondering what everyone found invaluable during school. It is an 18 month program for working adults (I'm 32), so any ideas would be great.
